(2)たった一言の激励と理解の言葉があれば、 あの少年が間違った方向に進むのを防ぐことができただろう。 With just a word to understand and encourage that boy ,we could have prevented him from going to wrong way. あと encourageはsvoが可能かどうかもお願いします。 宜しくお願いします！

You can rest assured that i will do all I can. 全力を尽くすので安心してください。という意味なんですが、どうしてそうなるのかわかりません。文の構造はどうなっているのでしょうか？ I cannot make people understand. i cannot make myself understood. この二つは意味が同じらしいですが、どうしてですか？ どちらも使役ですよね？上は”人々に理解させることができない”で下は・・？ we hear it said that ours is an essntially tragic age. 意味を教えてください。これも使役・・？ Harldly had he lain on the bench when he fell asleep. 意味と構造を教えてください。倒置なのはわかります。でもharldly を辞書で調べてもいい訳が見つかりませんでした・・
