The price of books is getting more affordable these days. get affordable という言葉につながりはありません。意味不明って感じです。 The price of books is affordable these days. これならつながります。意味も通ります。 それだけのこと。

あなたへの直接の回答にはなりませんが、私には（２）の more affordable であっても『最近本の値段は段々とお手ごろになってきている』という意味ですっとはいってきます。文法的にも意味的にもおかしくないように思えますが。

三択問題でThe price of house is too（ ）these days. という文章に（high, expensive, costly)のなかから選ぶとしたら、highだと思うのですが、expensive やcostlyも使うことができますか？ もし使えるとしたら、どうしてか教えてください。 また、なぜexpensiveやcostly よりもhighが最適な答えだという説明がうまくできないので、教えてください。よろしくお願いします。

The pretty girl ( ) in the corner is Mary Smith. という文で、( )に入る適切な語を４つの選択肢から選ぶ問題です。 選択肢にstandingがあり、これが正解なのは容易にわかります。 ただ、選択肢にto standがあるのですが、なぜこれは正解にならないのでしょうか。 不定詞の形容詞的用法にはこの場合なぜならないのでしょうか。 どなたか教えてください。

「川で泳いでいる男性は私の叔父です。」という文を英訳する場合、 普通なら、 The man swimming in the river is my uncle. ですよね。 これを、 The swimming man in the river is my uncle. とすると、なにかニュアンスの面で違う意味合いがでてくるものなのでしょうか？ ちなみに、「オックスフォード実例現代英語用法辞典」で分詞の項目を調べましたら、 ・・・分詞を名詞のあとに置いて、制限用法の関係代名詞と同様に、名詞を定義あるいは特定するために用いることが多い。 とあり 例文として We coudln't agree on any of the problems discussed. (the problems that were discussed.)(・・・the discussed problemsとはならない。） と書いてありした。 なぜ、the discussed problemsだといけないのかの説明がなく、 理解に苦しんでいます。 よろしかったら、お知恵を拝借願えますか？
