和訳のアドバイスをお願いします

下記の文章でいくつか分らない箇所があるのですが、どなたかアドバイスをおねがいします。 At press time, the Alis were scheduled to appear in court on December 9 to set a schedule for motions, and it may be weeks later that the case reaches trial. *Alis は人名です １.At press time は　「報道によれば」でよいのでしょうか、それともこの文章は雑誌の記事なので「原稿の締切り時」という意味なのでしょうか？ ２．motion は　「申し立て」という意味がありましたが、「事実の申し立て」ということなのでしょうか？ ３．the case reaches trial の the case とは　前出のmotion のことでしょうか？　 どなたかアドバイスをよろしくお願いします。

アメリカに35年ほど住んでいる者です。 私なりに説明しますね. １）　これは、報道によれb、と言うより、この原稿の締め切りの時点で、と言う事になります.　つまり、「我々の今知っている限り＝報道できる限り」と言う意味にもなってきています. ２）motionとは裁判所に対しての申し立て、のこと言い、いろいろな氏万丈の段階における申し立てのことを言うんですね. ３）このcaseとは、申し立てする「件＝訴訟」のことを言います.　つまり、この文章では、もう「訴訟」の申し立てから、実際の裁判が行われるには、weeks（数週間）かかるかもしれません、と言っているのですね. これでいいでしょうか。　分からない点がありましたら、補足質問してください。

たびたびすみません。 　大きな辞書で調べてみたのですが、motionに「提起」という訳語が見あたりません。 　そうすると、この文の「motion」の対象になっているのは「訴訟」ではなく審判などの「訴訟以外の裁判手続き」になりそうです。 　上訴ならば「申し立て」で良いのでしょうが、上訴審の用には思えません。 以下私なりにまとめました。 ○民事の場合 motion = 申し立て　 trial = 審理(本来、「口頭弁論」とすべきかしれませんが、訳文ではお目にかかったことがありません。) case = 裁判、事件 ○刑事の場合 motion = 申し立て trial = 公判 case = 裁判、公訴、刑事事件

　日本では「訴訟」は「申し立て」ではなく「提起」するものです。 　もしアメリカ法で「訴訟(trial)」を提起する場合にもmotionと言うのであれば、このmotionは「申し立て」ではなくて「提起」になりそうですね。 Ganbatteruyoさん、回答をお願いします。

At press time 現在入ってきた情報によると、、、（かな？） the Alis were scheduled to appear in court on December 9 Aliさんら（夫婦？、一家？）は１２月９日に出廷の予定、 to set a schedule for motions, 申し立てのスケジュール調整のため and it may be weeks later that the case reaches trial. 一週間後、事件は公判の予定。 でしょうか。。。 ほかになにかありますか？

１） 報道によればだと思いますが、自信ありません。 ２） motionはの法律用語の「申し立て」です。 後段から、まだ事件が裁判に発展していないことが伺えますから、裁判前の申し立てになります。 証拠保全手続きの申し立てかもしれませんし、審判開始の申立かもしれません。なんの申立かはこの文からでは判別できません。 ３） caseは「事件」「事案」の意です。 cf. divorce case = 離婚裁判事件
