国際雑誌の図表の転載に関し許可受諾の依頼をしましたが、理解しづらい英文が返ってきました
タイトルの通りです。 国際雑誌の論文に掲載されている図を、自分の執筆中の総説（review）原稿に転用しようと思い、その許可を受諾するために出版社に問い合わせた結果、以下の英文が却ってきました； Under the condition that the figure is not adapted or changed in any way (this would make the permission of the author inevitable), take following into consideration: Permission is granted insofar as it concerns original material which do not carry references to the source of other publications, provided that author permission is also obtained and full credit is given to the original publication. これを読む限り、 ・如何なる方法での改変を行わないという場合に以下のことを考えてください「・・・」 ・改変を行う場合は著者の許諾が必要です という大意が読み取れそうですが、「・・・」の部分が難解で、かいつまんでいうと、どういうことなのか、しっくりきません。 ご教示頂きたくどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

著作権に付いて、法的に利害が生じるPartyは、貴方、出版社そして作者です。これを踏まえて、 出版社の観点から見ると Under the condition that the figure is not adapted or changed in any way 兎に角、該当する図は、そのまま若しくは変更して他に掲載されてはいけないと言う条件で（この本は出版されており）あり、 (this would make the permission of the author inevitable), これに関しては作者の了承が必要になることは避けられませんよ take following into consideration: 下記のことを考慮に入れてください Permission is granted insofar provided that author permission is also obtained and full credit is given to the original publication. alsoが味噌で 承諾は、作者の同意と、オリジナルの出版物の信用等を損なわぬ十分な配慮を必要としている＝出版社の同意はその後に必要になりますよ。 as it concerns original material which do not carry references to the source of other publications, 貴方の英語力からすると訳す必要はないはずです。 先ず作者の同意を得ろ、そして私共に相談してください。 と言う意味だと思います。

No.1の回答で言い尽くされていると思います。 判り難いのは provided 以下の文がどこに掛かるかという点です。 拙訳です。 如何なる図版の改作または変更（これには著者の許諾が必要）を 行わない前提で、以下のことを考慮し、 他の文献からの出典が表示されていない素材に付いては許可し、 （出典が表示されている素材に付いては）著者の許可が得て有り オリジナルの出版物の著作者表示がなされる事を 前提に許可する。 つまり、 ・許可するが図版の改変は絶対に許さない。 ・他の出典（文献名）が示されている図版は、そちらの著者の 転載許可も得てかつ著作者表示をしなくてはならない。 と解釈します。 原文には文法ミス有るし、表現も端折ってあるのではと敢えて 補訳しました。
NO2です。 投稿したあとに気が付いたのですが、出版社は、著作権についての作者と出版社の法的立場に付いて言及しているのみで、先に、作者に聞いてほしいとも言っていません。 質問者が出版社に出した内容がわかりませので適切な回答になるか分かりませんが、図をそのまま、～のリファレンスを付けて文に使うのか、変更して使うのかを明確にして、どのようなstepをとれば、 自分が、作者に先ず了解を得るべきなのか、先方（出版社）が承諾できる内容であれば、彼らから作者に同意を得て貰えるか・・・・聞くことと考えます。

質問者の二つのパラグラフの解釈は違うと思います。 1) 如何なる方法での図版の改変も行わないことを前提に、以下のことについて考慮されたい。 2) 他の文献からの出典が明示されていない素材は、当該著者がオリジナルの出版物から完全なる許可を得ているものなので、当該著者の転載許可に含まれる。 つまり、 ・他の出典（文献名）が示されているものは、そちらの転載許可も得なくてはならない。 ・図版の改変は絶対に許さない。 …ということだと思います。

以前もこの文章について質問をしましたが、もっと深く理解したいです。 ”つまり何が言いたいのか？”それを知りたいです。 To me, „Transition“ is an almost tender album, which very much relies on a sense of breath and a precise placement of elements. How do you see the possibility of recreating this mood in a live setting? The precise placement is hopefully something we can achieve by simply practicing. This special mood is for sure another question. With this kind of music it seems it is important that you are pretty much aware of where exactly you perform it. We found out: Some locations are just wrong. It must be a room and a light setting which helps to create this intimate feeling. Think of a theater stage: the audience sits in a convenient way and is not distracted. Their focus is on the stage, the lights go down, your senses are sharpened. Under these conditions it can work. For sure, you don´t find this everywhere. In addition to this scenario, we play with a drummer - Bernhard Breuer, from Vienna - on some occasions. This gives the whole set an extroverted effect. For me it is always interesting to see that the same piece can work in two versions. There is no good or bad version, it seems it is about the actual situation - between the audience, the room and the musicians. And I am happy that we can choose between the trio and the duo version. 答えの最後から3行目のThere is no good or bad version,～and the musicians. までの解釈でつまづいています。一体何を言いたいのか？ そのままや訳すと、 「良いバージョンや、悪いバージョンがあるということではないよ。それは、現在の状況についての話に見える。つまり、オーディエンス、空間、そしてミュージシャンという関係についての話だ」となりますが、ここから何が言いたいのか？ この人が言いたい事は、オーディエンス、空間、そしてミュージシャンという関係があり、その結果、2つのバージョンが生まれた、ということでしょうか？だから良いバージョンとか悪いバージョンとかそういう話ではないと・・・。そういう解釈であってますか？ よろしくお願いいたします。

以前質問させて頂きましたが、もう一度質問させて下さい。 How, would you say, could non-mainstream forms of music reach wider audiences without sacrificing their soul? メインストリームに属していない音楽の作曲家が自分の信念を曲げずに、より多くのオーディエンスを獲得するにはどうしたらいいのでしょうか？ Hmm...I don’t think you have to change the music or sacrifice your soul. I still believe that there are a lot of people who are willing to listen to unusual music. The problem is how they can be introduced to this kind of music. Also you need to be open to experience something new to you, which means that there is a process of learning (at least a bit) included. Just an example: I could imagine that one could combine something accessible (which does not mean bad quality!!!) with controversial music. And give people a chance. However, unfortunately this has to do with strategies of major industry branches...they should dare a bit more. I am sure they would not loose anything on that, if they make it wise. うーん、聴く音楽や信念（scrificing their soul）を変えなくてはいけないとは思わないな。（そんな画策をしなくても）非メインストリームの音楽を聴きたがっている人が、今でもたくさんいると俺は信じている。問題は、いかにして非メインストリームの音楽を彼らの元に届けるか、ということだ。あと、ファン自身も未知の体験に対してオープンに接しなくてはいけない、と思う。そこには、少しでも学ぼうという姿勢が含まれていることも意味する。 単なる一例だが、oneがとっつきやすい音楽（質悪いという意味ではない）と物議を醸す音楽を組み合わせる事が出来た、それを俺は想像する事が出来た。そして人々に機会を与える。しかしながら、不運な事に、取っつきやすい音楽と物議を醸す音楽を組み合わせるのはメジャー産業の音楽部門に関係している事なんだ。彼らはもう少し大胆にやるべきだ。賢くやれば損する事なんて何もないさ。間違いなくね。 問題は後半です。 Q1 oneとは何（誰）を指すのでしょうか？というか誰も指していないのでしょうか？誰かが、みたいな感じ。 Q2 and give people a chance → そして人々に機会を与える。つまり、その組み合わせた音楽を聴く機会を与えるという事ですか？ Q3 「しかしながら、不運な事に、とっつきやすくて物議を醸す音楽を組み合わせるのはメジャー産業の音楽部門に関係している事なんだ。」 この文章を通して言いたいのは「そう言ったやり方が出来るのはメジャー産業の人たちであって、俺のような非メインストリームに携わっている人間はそんなまねは出来ない（金やコネがないから・・・？）」ということですか？ Q4 ただ、そう解釈してしまうと、次の文章の「彼らはもう少し大胆にやるべきだ」との繋がりがぼやけてしまいます。私の頭の中では「そういったやり方が出来るのはメジャー産業の人たちであって、俺のような非メインストリームに携わっている人間は（金もコネもないから）そんなまねはやりたくても出来ない。だから、俺たちの無念を晴らすためにももっと大胆にやるべきだ。」というむちゃくちゃな解釈が出来上がってしまいます。なぜこの解釈に行き着くかというと、こう解釈すれば文章として成り立つからです。（当然間違っているはず・・・どこかで決定的なミスを犯しているはずですが・・・） 当然、次の文章の賢くやれば損をしない、ともつながってきません。 毎度の事ですがよろしくお願いいたします・・・。
