this time は今回は、今度こそはなどの意味ですね。後ろに around と付けただけでさほど意味は変わりません。around は「この辺で、およそ」ぐらいの意味です。 around this time だと「今ごろ」みたいなもっとはっきりした意味になると思います。

around は time を修飾しています。訳すれば 「見かけがいいだけの人間を遣るのではなくて、今度こそ役に立つ代表を送る必要がある」 ということでしょうか、前の人が見かけ倒しで無能だったから、今度は本当に仕事の出来る奴を送らなきゃってところでしょうか。 this time around は、#1さんのおっしゃる通りだと思います。

My boyfriend and I have been together for three years. We decided to make some major sacrifices in order to pay off debt and save up for a house. This includes driving junky cars and moving in with his parents. He and I were both working out with a personal trainer, him twice a week and me once a week. I quit the training because I found a cheaper option. My boyfriend decided to start seeing the trainer three times per week. I think this is irresponsible, considering we are in saving mode right now. This is why my boyfriend decided to cover it up and lie about it -- badly. this ice shop will feature flavor rather than priceという問題があり、rather thanが正解なんですが、選択肢にexcept forもあるんですが、意味的には値段を除いてiceを大々的に扱うという意味でも成立しませんか？また、rather thanの品詞はなんですか？

- "look"と"looks"について（添削お願いします）
先程ペンパルから、私の文法ミスについて↓のように指摘がありました。 when you write "looks" thats good but when you are telling someone that they look a certain way you don't put the "s" in the word. really the only time you would use "looks" is if you are talking to a person about someone like....."He looks good"or" he is looking good". but when you are talking about a person and telling something about them you would say "you look... you don't need to add the s in the word...... 私が誰かとある人について話している時は「He "looks" good」のようにlookの後に"s"を入れていいが、私がある人のルックスについて話していて、そのことを本人に伝える場合は、「you "look"・・」のように"s"を加える必要がない、という意味でしょうか・・？ 頭がこんがらがって全く意味が分かりません・・・。 意味不明な文章で申し訳ありません！ どなたか添削お願いします！すみませんがよろしくおねがいします。

around this time の私のとらえ方がかなり曖昧でした。。。こちらも教えていただき助かりました。ありがとうございます！ this time と this time around は大きな意味の違いはないように思うのですが（ニュアンスは違うのでしょうが）、aroundが付いただけでとても難しく考えてしまいます。 こういったことは、英文に慣れるしかないのでしょうか？なにか良い攻略法はありますか？
