○ 「No other ...」と「No ...」の問題が出ているようですね。前者は同種のものと比較する場合に、後者は異種のものと比較する場合に用いるという考え方があります。（もちろん、地域によって違いがあったり、または略式か正式かによっても異なったりする場合もあるでしょうが・・・。） ○ 例文を用いると次のようになります。（Tomは男子です。） (1) No other boy is taller than Tom.（○） (2) No boy is taller than Tom.（×） (3) No other girl is taller than Tom.（×） (4) No girl is taller than Tom.（○） ○ これをお尋ねの問題の英文に当てはめてみます。「（不可欠な）ものはない。」の主語は、必ずしも「water」や「air」とは同じ種類のものではないと考えた方が良さそうです。さまざまな種類のものを含めた「もの」ではないでしょうか。 ○ したがって、（ ）内には「other」や「else」を用いない方が良いと思われます。 ○ ６語という条件がなければ（A)が自然だと思いますが、どうしても６語で表現するならば（B)かまたは（C)という英文になりそうです。 (A) (There's nothing more essential) to life than ... 英作文の添削をお願いします！ 私は、もうすぐ受験をひかえている中学3年生です。 志望校に毎年出題されている英作文で分からない問題があり、苦戦しています。 「ここでの生活は、イングランドでの私たちの昔の生活よりも良い。」 という日本文に合う英文になるように、 〔 our England than old better life in 〕 この〔〕内に与えられた語を並べ替えて文を完成させろという問題なのですが Life here is 〔better than our old life in England 〕. これでいいのでしょうか。 受験までもう時間がないので、添削していただけるとすごく助かります。 厳しく添削！をお願いします。 また回答例も教えていただけるとなお嬉しいです！ お手数お掛けしますが宜しくお願いいたします。

次の問題です。 自然がこんなにもかけがえのない大切なものだと思われた時代は， かつてなかったにちがいない。 テキストの解答は以下のようになっています。 There must have been no other time [ age ] when nature is considered to be more essential [ precious ] than now [ today / this age ] 最後の than now がしっくり来ないのですが・・・。 nature と now を比べているようで、変な感じがします。 than it is today だとよいのかなと思ったり・・・自信がありません。 それとも no other time ... than というつながりだと考えるのでしょうか。 間違いがあれば訂正していただけますか?

「君の笑顔に勝るものはない」の英訳を教えてください。 There is no smile more beautiful than your smile. There is nothing more beautiful than your smile There is no better girl more than your smile これらの表現はおかしいですかね？できれば、There is から文章をはじめたいです。 こういう場合は、beautiful 以外の単語ですとどういうのが使えますか？ お願いします。

辞書片手に英作文を行いました。つたない英語で申し訳ありませんが、以下の文において、文法的な間違いがありましたら、添削をお願いします。 In any case, I don't think suicide is all right. Mr.A and his doctor's decision is stupid. I know "Where there is life, there is hope". We can do nothing without life. Nothing is more important than life. Suicide can release peopple from pain, but also takes away their future and joy. How painful he was, he should try to live. Though he had an incurable disease, it's only one of trial of his life. In fact, there are many people have an incurable disease and try to live better. I think A's decision was wishful thinking. I also have an incurable disease of skin, but I've never thought suicide. It's wrong to choose death in any case.
