この文の訳（文法・構造）を教えてください。
次の文の訳はどうやって訳をするか教えて下さい。 The designer knew that as good a place as any to start in refurbishing the image was a complete revamping of this important room. だいたい意味はわかります。けれども、as good a place as anyの訳がいまいちわかりません。おそらくas～as---の構文であると思いますが。goodの意味をどう訳されますか？あとanyの後には何かが省略されているのでしょうか。前文がないのでわかりにくいと思いますが、すみませんが教えて下さい。

まず分かりやすい例から考えてみましょう。 A hotel lobby is as good a place as any to watch people come and go. ホテルのロビーは人の出入りを見るのに打ってつけだ。 この例文のように、as good a place as anyという文型では、普通、○○はXXするのに打ってつけだ、というように主語が必要です。同時に、次の文のようにas good a place as anyを文頭に持ってくる使い方もあります。 As good a place as any to start your sightseeing in Arizona is Grand Canyon. アリゾナで見るべき場所といえば、まずグランドキャニオンだ。 これを普通の文型に直せば、こうなります。 Grand Canyon is as good a place as any to start your sightseeing in Arizona. ご質問の文もこれと同じように考えられないでしょうか。ニュアンスの違いはさて置き、普通の順序に直せば In refurbishing the image, a complete revamping of this important room was as good a place as any to start. その上で、元の文章を訳せば イメージを一新するのであれば、まず手がけるべきはこの重要な部屋を徹底的に改修することである。

as...as any～ で「どの～にも劣らず、この上なく」という意味になり、anyの後ろにはplaceが省略されていると考えればいいでしょう。 googleで"as good a place as any"で検索しますとたくさんの例が出てくるのですが http://www.google.co.jp/search?num=50&hl=ja&q=%22as+good+a+place+as+any%22&lr= これらの用例を見ますと「最高の場所、最適の場所」という意味で間違いないと思われます。 今回のご質問の文の訳としては「この重要な部屋をすっかり改装してしまうことがイメージ一新のとっかかりには最適だ、ということをそのデザイナーは知っていた」という感じになるのかも知れません。

[2]I heard from him as early as yesterday. [3]As after as I see this picture,I think of you. [4]He will plays tennis with us as likely as not. [5]This photograph is as large as life. [6]He has as many as one hundred books. これらは、He is as good as dead. と同じ類のものだから、(この例はわかります) 覚えとけといわれたのですが、訳とかは書いてあったのですが、 どうしてその訳がでるのかがわからないです。 (3)More often than not,I played tennis. なぜこれで、しばしばなのかわかりません・・・ (4)He is neither more nor less than stupid. 彼はばか以上でも以下でもない⇔彼は馬鹿というほかない見たな感じですか？ (5)He is not so foolish as to say it. これは訳もわかりません、、asは接続詞で後ろに文が 隠れてると思うんですけど、なにが省略されてるのでしょうか？ (6)He is not such a fool as he looks. これは相関的に用いられる、関係代名詞ですよね？(比較のところになぜ？ 本題に戻りますが、彼は、あほに見えるような人ではない。で 元々の文は、He is not a fool.ですか？ 長くなってしまったのですが、よろしくお願いします。
