Bob is easyと言われて不自然に思わないか？ easyなのはmake friendsすることであって，Bobではありません。 It is easy for Bob to make friends with strangers.

高校英文法の参考書に載っていた内容について質問です。 通常、easy/difficult/pleasant/などの形容詞は形式主語itを用いた文にすることができます。 例）This book is difficult to understand. →It is difficult to understand the book. などのようにです。この場合、変形する前の文の「to understand」と「This book」は動詞と目的語の関係になっています。 しかし、この参考書によると形式主語を用いた文に書き換えられない形容詞があるようなのです。 それがable/afraid/anxious/ashamed/disappointedなどの形容詞のことらしいです。 つまり、 She is eager to succeed in business. →It is eager... とはできないようなのです。また、この場合変形する前の文の「to succeed」と「She」は動詞と主語の関係になっています。 そこで質問なのですが、 (1)後述したような形容詞はなぜItの文に書き換えられないのですか？例えばShe is eager...だったらIt is eager for（またはof） her...としてもだめなのでしょうか？ (2)また、さらに後ろのページにbrave/careless/cleverなどの動詞はIt is 形容詞 of ～の書き換えのところで紹介されていました。なぜこれらの動詞は可能で、質問に書いた形容詞は不可能なのでしょうか？違いが全く分かりません・・・。 とても困っています・・・。どなたか分かりやすく解説してくださいm(__)m
