RHEL5.2に入れたのはPosgresql8.3かもしれませんが、そのサーバに接続した時の クライアントのPostgresがVersion 8.1だと言っているのです。クライアントは別のマシンを 使ったものと推測されます。特別な理由がない限りクライアントも8.3にアップグレードしましょう。
