この文は一度質問したものですが、まだ整理がつかず締め切り後に再投稿させていただいたものです。

という文ですがこのexcept thatはexcept that S V Oで
「ＳがＯするという点を除いては」という意味でしょうか。
もしそうだとすると、この文の意味していることが分かりません。
このまま埋もれてしまうのは惜しいと思い研究しています。
ＮＨＫの英語番組で美術品を見たキャストが

「これを何時間も見ていたいです。」
と言っていましたが、実際会話の中でfor hoursと言われたら
私なんかはfour hoursというふうに聞き取ってしまい。
「4時間」・・・「なんで4時間なんだろう・・。」と考え込んで

ここでお聞きします。英会話で私のような勘違い、失敗談があれば

下記文中におけるpartner at accountingの意味がよくわかりません。
直訳すると「会計におけるパートナー」であるように思うのですが
それだとあまりにも薄っぺらいというか…。

to pressureと同じように考えたのですが、もしそうならto pressure 人 to doとto press 人 to doではどのようなニュアンスの違いがあるのでしょうか？

(3)上の質問とは関係ないのですがdetermine,resolve,aimなどの決心する～狙う～といった意味の単語は「be -ed」のいわゆる受身と言われる形になっても意味が変わらない事があると思うのですが、このようなことは感覚的に身につけるしかないのでしょうか？
一応自分の中で「決心する、も決心される、も自分の意思であり同じ事」という風に理解はしているのですが初めてみた時はいつも間違えます。。。concern,involveなども同じような感じで覚えていますが、こういった単語は一度見て感覚的に覚えるしかないのでしょうか？
