英語が全く分からず勉強している者です。
Whenの使い方を教えてください。
When do you arrive here?
When do you expect the attendees to arrive?
という二つの文があったとします。
上の文はあなたがいつ到着するのかを聞いてます。
しかし、下の文では参加者がいつ到着するのかを聞いてます。
それはなぜでしょうか？
私の考えですと上の文にならって訳を考えた場合、参加者が到着するのをあなたがいつ予想するのか？と訳すのではないかと思います。
つまり、参加者がいつ到着するのかを聞いているのではなく、あなたがいつになったら予想を立ててくれるのかを聞いている文になるのではないかと思うわけです。
なぜ、このWhenはあなたではなく、参加者に対するWhenなのですか？

調査を実施した会社を見ると、費用削減を追及した会社は成功していることがわかった。
答えは(C)です。

添うために受動態にして→surveyedに行き着くという事なのでしょうか？？
the firms surveyという複合名詞(？？)は文法上は間違いではないが文脈上意味がおかしくなるので正解から外され (C)に行き着くという考えで大丈夫なのでしょうか？？

辞書だとhood=頭巾やボンネットになり、
Neighborhood=hood
とも言うんですよね？
外人の友達に聞いたところ、

いまいち翻訳も曖昧で
理解できず困っています。

と言っているのですが、意味がよくわかりません。
試食をする前に、「まずいですよ（funnyfaceになるよ）」といわれて、返した台詞です。
「喜んでfunnyfaceになってやろうじゃない（心構えは十分）」みたいな意味なのでしょうか？
