「初期アメリカ文学」というカテゴリーで扱う領域は非常に広いものです。 狭義で解釈するなら、17世紀から18世紀の植民地文学となります。 広義で解釈するなら、19世紀初頭の独立期、中葉のルネサンス期直前までをも含む場合もあるかもしれません。 またこの時期の文学は大変宗教の影響が強く、詩もそのほとんどが宗教詩です。 ご質問があまりに漠然としているため、ちょっと答えようがありません。 時期、対象とする作家をしぼっていただければ、答えられるかもしれません。 サイトをお探しでしたら、 http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/oal/oaltoc.htm が大変充実しています。 また http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/eaf/ は、オリジナルの文献が読める大変ありがたいサイトです。

英文の添削をよろしくお願いします。 日本の参考書にはアメリカ英語とイギリス英語の言い方が記載されています。 イギリス人はアメリカ英語の単語の意味が分からない、ということはあるのでしょうか？ 例えば、車のウインカーをblinkerと言うと、分からない人は多いのでしょうか? There are both English and American dialect in English textbooks in Japan. Can English people understand every American dialect? "Blinkers" for example. It means "winkers" in America. 私は英語教育専攻の大学生です。 今学期にアメリカ文学史という講義を取るのですが、新に大学生用の辞典を買うように言われました。 講義のオリエンテーションで先生は (1)新英和大辞典 (2)リーダーズ英和辞典 (3)ランダムハウス英和辞典 (4)プログレッシブ英中和辞典 の順に勧めていましたが、 私はどの辞典がいいのか全然検討がつきません。 ウェブで各辞典を検索してみたのですが、賛否両論で、迷っています。 値段のことはさほど気にしないので、おすすめを教えてください。 ちなみに教科書は“The Norton Anthology of American literature”です。
