改めて「in」と「later」の違いについて

If～：～したときは必ず あるいは ～したときはいつも こういう使い方もあるのです むしろこういう使い方の方が多いようです 日本で一般に認識されている「もしも」と比べるとかなり突っ込んだ仮定ですね

typically という単語を調べようと思いました。 Oxfordの説明の１つは以下でした。 (http://www.oxfordadvancedlearnersdictionary.com/dictionary/typically) in a way that shows the usual qualities or features of a particular type of person, thing or group typically American hospitality 文頭に in が出てきて私のレベルでは解読不可能でしたのでLONGMANで調べました。 (http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/typically) 残念ながら同じ表現が使用されていました。 in a way that shows the usual or expected features of someone or something この表現が英英辞書にはよく出てくるようなのでそろそろ理解したいです。 私としては in が無くてよいと思えます。 「～というway」 でスッキリします。 in があることで、「～というwayの中？？？」 というふうになってしまって意味不明です。 どなたか教えていただけないでしょうか。 よろしくお願いいたします。m(_ _)m

英英辞典での『cite』の意味として、 ・to mention in support , proof , confirmation ； refer to as an example ： He cited many instances of abuse of power. というのが載っておりました。 http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cite 私は『in』を「中で」「途中で」などのニュアンスで理解しているのですが、 ここでの『in』がどのような意味で使われているのかがよく分かりません。 意味もよく取れません。 むしろ『as』などの方が適当なのではないかと思うのですが。 「in support」「in proof」「in confirmation」になぜ『in』を用いるのかを 暗記ではなく、何とか説明・理解する方法などないでしょうか？ よろしくお願い致します。
