(258)The farther… How should this English sentence be translated?

  • The father will not agree with his children, nor the children with their father, nor guest with his host, nor comrade with comrade; nor will brother be dear to brother as aforetime. Men will dishonour their parents as they grow quickly old, and will carp at them, chiding them with bitter words, hard-hearted they, not knowing the fear of the gods. They will not repay their aged parents the cost their nurture, for might shall be their right: and one man will sack another's city.
  • This sentence talks about the deteriorating relationships between family members and friends. It emphasizes how people will no longer find agreement or affection with each other. They will disrespect and criticize their elderly parents, lacking empathy and understanding of the divine. Their actions will be driven by power and might, leading to conflicts and destruction.
  • The translation of this sentence should convey the crumbling bonds between individuals, the disregard for parental care, and the potential for violence and chaos in society.

(258)The farther……

QA258 The father will not agree with his children, nor the children with their father, nor guest with his host, nor comrade with comrade; nor will brother be dear to brother as aforetime. Men will dishonour their parents as they grow quickly old, and will carp at them, chiding them with bitter words, hard-hearted they, not knowing the fear of the gods. They will not repay their aged parents the cost their nurture, for might shall be their right: and one man will sack another's city. and one man will sack another's city. (3)for might shall be their rightについて 厳密に訳せば、「力は正義となるかも知れないからで」となるでしょうか。

(2)hard hearted theyについて 倒置(前だし)は明らかですが、they are hard heartedでしょうか。 (3)for might shall be their rightについて 厳密に訳せば、「力は正義となるかも知れないからで」となるでしょうか。 (4)続きの文; and one man will sack another's cityについて forは前半に掛かると考えた。 「……

  • (259)There will be……

    (259) There will be no favour for the man who keeps his oath or for the just or for the good; but rather men will praise the evil-doer and his violent dealing. Strength will be right and reverence will cease to be; and the wicked will hurt the worthy man, speaking false words against him, and will swear an oath upon them. Envy, foul-mouthed, delighting in evil, with scowling face, will go along with wretched men one and all. reverence will cease to be そして、邪悪は価値ある人物を傷つけ, the wicked will hurt worthy man 又はthe wickedness will hurt(s) the worthy man 話すことは彼(価値ある人)に対する言葉を誤り、 そして、彼らに誓約を誓わせるだろう。 will go along with (冠詞なし) wretched men 質問 (1) the wicked will hurt worthy man について will は名詞ではないと思う。 the wickedness will hurt worthy manなら理解できます。 (2)with scowling faceについて 次の文will go along with wretched menとの関係を考えると、 <if文>のようでもあるが、文体が違う。 (3)will go along with wretched men について wretched menに冠詞がない。

Then the time came for Tonky and Wanly. They always looked at people with loving eyes. They were sweet and gentle-hearted. However, the elephant keeepers had to stop giveng them anything to eat. When a keeper walked by their cage, they stood up and raised their trunks high in the air. They did their tricks because they were hoping to get food and water. Everyone at the zoo said with tears, “If they can live a few more days, the war may be over and they will be saved.” Tonky and Wanly could no longer move. They lay down on the ground, but their eyes were beautiful. When an elephant keeper came to see them, they looked so weak. He became too sad to go back to see them. Bombs continued to dop on Tokyo. And a few days later, Tonk and Wanly died. Later, when the bodies of the elephants were examined, nothing was found in their stomachs -not even one drop of water. Today, the three elephants rest in peace with other animals under the monument at the Ueno Zoo.

Our next exploration will be into the sizes of things. We shall discover something of the network of interrelationships between living things and the necessary aspects of environments that are life-supporting. This path will take us back in time to the origins of humanity; but, at the end of this road, we shall find unexpected clues about the origins of aesthetics, the haunting appeal of pictures and landscapes, and the importance of symmetry for living things. These insights will shed new light on our responses to modern computer-generated art, and will help us to appreciate what we require of man-made landscapes if they are to soothe or stimulate us. (The artful universe by J.D.Barrow) 最後のand will help us to appreciate what we require of man-made landscapes if they are to soothe or stimulate us. 1)what we require of man-made landscapesのrequire of は、「~に要求する」という意味にとるのでしょうか? 2)if they are to soothe or stimulate usのtheyはman-made landscapesのことですか? 3)ここのwill help us to appreciate~they are to soothe or stimulate us. (These insights=we shall find unexpected clues about the origins of aesthetics, the haunting appeal of pictures and landscapes, and the importance of symmetry for living things.
