こんにちは。 工学系英語論文の和訳で、わからないところがあったので質問致します。 分散分析とt検定について書かれているのはわかるのですが、よく意味がわかりません。 たぶん、統計についての知識が足りないことがわからない原因だと思いますが.... おわかりになる方がいらっしゃれば、ご教授よろしくお願い致します。 For the SCRs, an ANOVA with Gaze(direct,averted) and Expression(smiling,neutral)as within-subject factors resulted in them a in effects of Gaze, F(1, 18) = 20.06, p < 0.001, η2p= 0.53, andExpression, F(1, 18) = 15.60, p = 0.001, η2p= 0.46, and a Gaze × Expression in teraction, F(1, 18) = 5.26, p = 0.034,η2p= 0.23. Follow-uppaired-samples t-tests indicated larger SCRs for the direct vs. averted gaze both in the neutral, t(18) = 3.04, p = 0.007, and in the smiling face, t(18) = 4.66, p < 0.001. Further more, SCRs were significantly greater for the direct gaze in the smiling vs. neutral face t(18) = 4.88, p < 0.001, but for the averted gaze, this difference was only marginally significant, t(18) = 2.08, p = 0.052. Figure2 shows the mean SCRs as a function of gaze direction and facial expression.

Without some contact with other human beings, we would not develop normally. The need for affection, however, does not seem to apply only to people. Studies has shown that animals, too, require love and affection. Beginning in the 1950s, psychologists Harry and Margaret Harlow carried out a series of important tests with monkeys, pointing out the affectional needs of animals. The Harlows stumbled on their first finding by accident. Trying to produce a group of young monkeys completely free from disease, they isolated each of 56 infants in a wire cage shortly after birth. The infant monkeys could see and hear the other monkeys, but they could not engage in any physical contact with one another. Now were the infants“mothered”, as monkeys usually are after they are born. In a sense, the researchers achieved their goal. The animals were indeed physically healthy. However, they gradually showed sigh of severe emotional disturbance. They would sit in a corner for hours just staring into space. Some held their heads tightly in their hands and rocked back and forth. Others, when approached, would fly into attacks of rage, tearing at themselves with such force that they sometimes needed medical care. When the female “motherless” monkeys themselves became mothers, they still displayed abnormal behavior. They ignored their offspring and sometimes even attacked them brutally. Some of the infants had to be removed from the cages because of the mothers´ refusal to feed them. In fact, had these infants not been raised in a laboratory environment, they would probably not have survived. The role of contact with others cannot be stressed enough. It seems that from almost the moment of birth, we need contact with others to adjust properly. 以上になります。

These distinctions between the intentional and the nonintentional, on the one hand, and between what is natural and what is conventional, or symbolic, on the other, play a central part in the theoretical investigation of meaning. (2)That the verb 'mean' is being employed in different senses in the examples that I have used so far is evident from the fact that Mary means trouble is ambiguous: it can be taken like Mary means well or like Smoke means fire. Indeed, with a little imagination it is possible to devise a context, or scenario, in which the verb 'mean' in Mary means trouble can be plausibly interpreted in the way that it would normally be interpreted in That red flag means danger. Most language-utterances, we shall see, depend for their interpretation upon the context in which they are used. And the vast majority of them have a wider range of meanings than first come to mind. Utterances containing the word 'meaning' (or the verb 'mean') are no different from other English utterances in this respect.

今IEEEの英語の論文を和訳しているんですが、その中で、「bounding box」って言葉が出てくるんですがこれってどういう意味ですか？？ ちなみに論文はIEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION ってタイトルの雑誌の中の論文です。 タイトルは「多数の可動性ロボットのための経路調整：解決完全なアルゴリズム」です。

Mr Giuliani had been a source of great strength after the attack on the World Trade Centre.
