Green Dayの歌詞の一部について
「As my memory rest, But never forgets what I lost. Wake me up when September ends.」という部分があるのですが、何故forgetにsが付くんでしょうか？？

洋楽を聴いているとよく、septemberという単語が歌詞の中に入っているものがあります。 green day "Wake me up when september ends" bluetones "if"のなかの歌詞に”if you get out before september" などです。 日本語に訳せばただの９月となってしまうのですが、 英語圏でSeptemberとはどのようにとらえられているのでしょうか？ GreenDayの曲は9.11の後の曲なのでそれの隠喩なのかなとも思いますが、確かなことがわかりません。 英語圏の文化に詳しい方で教えていただけたらとおもい投稿させていただきました。 よろしくおねがいします。
