Mishima Yukioの『日本と私』についての疑問
- Mishima Yukioが日本とアメリカの再戦争を望んだと言われているが、その理由がわかりません。

＃１です。補足です。 ＞＞仮定法とのことですが、なぜ帰結部分が could, would, might, should ではなく過去完了になっているのでしょうか？ もう＃２さんが名答を出していらっしゃいますので、僕はここらで。

個人的な感覚ですが、、、 三島氏が言ったのが、 If there are signs that the interest was lagging, then the time has come for another war. （そのような兆候があるならば、また戦争をするべき時が来た。）ここで現在完了形なのは分かりますよね？ これが伝聞情報なのですし、（実際に昔の話なので、）時世の一致で he said if there were signs that the interest was lagging, then the time had come for another war. になっただけじゃないでしょうか？ あんまり深く文法を考えない性質なのですが、個人的にはそれほど複雑な文ではないと思います。

ご回答ありがとうございます。 時制の一致とのご指摘、たしかに仰るとおりです。 すみません、he said が完全に抜けていました。 ただ、なぜ帰結部分が現在完了なのか。。。will が入っていたり、あるいは、If I wanted anything, I had to work for it. や If you mix red and yellow, you get orange. のように事柄を事実として述べるならわかりますが、the time had come for another war. は事実ではありませんし。。。

下記の３の場合でしょう。if 今現在に対する仮定の話をしている場合だと思います。 したがって「もし（アメリカの日本に対する）興味が遅れているとすれば、また戦争をする時が来たことになる。」という意味でしょう。 https://giveoneeigo.com/lifestyle/if/

以下の文章の「I never could see myself that much was the matter with me,except that I had a beastly cold.」という部分がどういう構文になっているのか、どういう意味なのか分かりません。 Many years ago when I was a young man,I was taken very ill-I never could see myself that much was the matter with me,except that I had a beastly cold. 小さい質問ですけど、気になったので。 １、I felt as if I were condemned for my idleness. ２、Her frilly dress made her look as if she had come to a children's party. １の文の「責められているように感じた」の「責められて」いるのって過去ですよね。 過去の事実の反対を表しているのに、なぜ現在の事実の反対を表す仮定法過去 が使われているのですか？ ２の文ではhad been condemnedになってるのに。 どこが違うんでしょうか。
