文法合ってますか？
こんにちは。 本日英語教室で習ったものがいまいち腹に落ちず、質問です。 「私は２０日以上の休暇が必要だ」を英語にすると、 I need a vacation more than 20 days. だと思ったのですが、教師に I need a vacation of more than 20 days. が正しいと言われました。 なぜofが入るのか、理解できないのでどなたかご教授いただけませんでしょうか。 教師は英語のみ話す方で、説明が理解できませんでした・・・汗

I need a vacation more than 20 days. 私は２０日より休暇が必要です。 I need a vacation of more than 20 days. 私は２０日以上の休暇が必要です。 I need a vacation for more than 20 days. 私は２０日以上も休暇が必要です。

I need a 20 day vacation. I need a vacation of 20 days. I need a vacation for 20 days. に対してmore thanを使え I need a more than 20 day vacation. I need a vacation of more than 20 days. I need a vacation for more than 20 days. となるが、more thanを削除した貴兄の文章は I need a vacation 20 days. a vacationと20 daysに文法的に解釈できる繋がりがない。

more than 20 days の(of) a vacation が I need ...と考えると、Ofが要ります。 I need a vacation for more than 20 days ではどうか、と次回訊いてみては如何でしょうか？

彼が自分の才能を無駄にしていることを考えると、どうも我慢出来ないという文があり 英文は「It's more than I can bear to think of his wasting his talents.という英文になるらしいのですが この文のはIt'sは形式主語で真主語はto think of his wasting his talentsであり more than I can bearは形容詞的に考えれば良いのでしょうか？

英語の勉強で疑問に思ったことがありましたので質問いたします。 以下のような文章の more, to, than の使い方を、教えていただきたいです。 There is more to her success than diligence. （彼女の成功は、勤勉だけでもたらされたのではない。） There is more to a starry night than just stars, planets and the moon. （星空にあるのは恒星や惑星、月だけではない。） このような、more + to ～ than の使われ方は文法的にどうとらえたらよいのでしょう。 more＋（A）＋than＋S＋V 「SがVしきれないほどの～」 というのと似ていますが、それに近い感じでしょうか。 特になぜtoが使われるのかが知りたいです。 どなたか教えていただければ幸いです。

People use them up.のthemは、休暇のことでしょうか。upがついているのはどうしてでしょうか。 The ones that have not used are leftover vacation days.は、使われなかった休暇は、繰越休暇になりますという意味でしょうか。carry-overとかついていないので、そこまで言及しているのかどうかわかりません。よろしくお願いします。 ↓ こんにちは。この一文についての質問をしたところ ‘One in five has leftover vacation days.’ このような返事がありました。 In your example with vacation days, it is referring to the consumption of vacation days. People use them up. The ones that have not used are leftover vacation days.

American men between the ages of 14 and 45 spend more time in the hospital for mental disorders than for any other cause, and only the delivery of a child accounts 【for more days】 in the hospital for woman of that age. この、【for more days】 は、何との比較になりますか？ 私は、文脈的にamerican～causeとの比較ではないかと考えたのですが、 only～of that ageにthanが書かれていないので、確実にそうだと思えることが出来ませんでした。 おそらく、thanが省略されているのかと思うのですが・・・。 そういった省略表現（規則？）があれば教えて下さい。
