米国が新たな栄養基準「MyPlate」を導入
- 米国では長らく食品ピラミッドを基にした栄養基準があったが、多くの人々がピラミッドを理解しづらいと感じていた。
- そこで、政府はピラミッドから皿の形状に変えた「MyPlate」という新たな栄養基準を採用した。
- MyPlateでは、食事の半分は果物や野菜で、残りの半分は全粒穀物と低脂肪タンパク質で構成されている。また、乳製品も一緒に摂取するよう推奨されている。

"ditch the pyramid" で検索すると， 「ピラミッドはやめて」皿を選ぶ と説明している表現がいくつも見つかりますね。 皿の絵をみて溝だ，と誤って即断してしまいました。

ditched the pyramid for a plate 従来の食品ピラミッド http://abcdane.net/food/foodpyramid.htm に対し，皿状のピラミッドの溝を掘った。 http://www.choosemyplate.gov/ このような皿に溝を作ったことを表しているように思います。 lean protein は「栄養の少ないたんぱく質，低脂肪・低カロリーのたんぱく質」 だと思います。

リンカーンのこの警句は、民主主義政治を最も簡潔に性格付けた言葉としてつとに有名です。 英語でいえば、Government of the people, by the people, for the people です。 では、の of による by ためのfor のうち、初めの２つが かぶっていると思うのですが、どうでしょうか？ つまり実施主体が人民だと言っているわけです。同じことではないですか？ 最後の「ためのfor」は目的・利益を受ける相手を示すので明らかに違い、意味は分かるのですが。 それとも最初の「の of」は、支配「対象」も人民だ、と言いたいのでしょうか？ ofに対象を示す用法ってありましたっけ？
