One of the most dangerous phrases is that familiar combination of words “dead past.” The past is never dead; (A) is very much alive, for good and ill.  We are not, as a whole, a people with a vivid sense of history. We live in the  present and in the futureーand are proud of so doing. But without an acute sense of (B), (C) is meaningless and the future is filled with peril.  It is not so much the old cliche that “history repeats itself” as the fact that history anticipates itself. Today and tomorrow are foreseen in yesterday's patterns of events.  Hitler is dead; the spirit means, and how it acts under certain circumstances, we will not be able to cope with its return.  Ancient Greece is dead, but its problems remain: especially the one problem that great democracy could not solveーhow to achieve both freedom and security at the same time. Learning why Greece failed may help us find some happier solution.  We know that, in an individual life, the past remains active and influential, even when we are most unconscious of it. The same is true of nations and epochs; the waves keep widening for centuries, and slowly change the outline of the shore we stand on.  The past often seems “dead” because it is in a deadly fashion. To make the past come alive requires imagination as much as learning. The good history teacher must be more of a poet than a pedant; he must grasp the philosophy of historical events, or he has grasped nothing.  If we lose any freedoms, it may be because we play to much attention to the temporary needs of (D), and too little attention to the permanent foundations of the past.  People die; objects perish; but ideas persist forever. History shows us how ideas have changed men, and how men have changed ideas. Lacking this knowledge, we can only be blinded by false passions and aetrayed by false hopes. (A)~(D)には、the presentまたはthe pastのどちらかが入ります。

As historian Richard Pipes writes, "the incompatibility of capitalism and autocracy struck all who gave thought to the matter". The first major event of the Russian Revolution was the February Revolution, which was a chaotic affair, caused by the culmination of over a century of civil and military unrest. The causes of this unrest of the common people towards the Tsar and aristocratic landowners are many and can be summarized as the ongoing cruel treatment of peasants by patricians, poor working conditions of city workers in the fledgling industrial economy and the spreading of democratic ideas from the West by political activists, leading to a growing political and social awareness of the lower classes. Dissatisfaction of proletarians was compounded by food shortages and military failures. In 1905, Russia experienced humiliating losses in its war with Japan, then Bloody Sunday and the Revolution of 1905, Tsarist troops fired upon a peaceful, unarmed crowd—further dividing Nicholas II from his people.

Terror of the Deep Kronosaurus lived in the seas that covered Australia, but it probably left the water to lay its eggs on land. Its head was seven feet (2m) long and its teeth were as big as bananas! The prime function of a set of teeth like this, says paleontologist Colin McHenry, was to grab and crush its prey. In fact, Kronosaurus was one of the most powerful predators of all time.

Based upon the general weak formulations, the Galerkin finite element method (GFEM), and the global boundary integral equation (GBIE) which leads to the boundary element method (BEM), can be established (Zhang and Atluri 1986). The Galerkin finite element method, due to its profound roots in generalized variational principles and its ease of use, has found extensive engineering acceptance as well as a commercial market. The typical feature of the finite element method is the sub-domain discretization, and the use of local interpolation functions. 和訳お願いします.序盤のほうで何を確立すると言ってるのか, よみとれません.有限要素法関連の英文です よろしくお願いします.

In higher vertebrates, estrogens exert anorganizational effect on the central nervous system (CNS) during the perinatal phase of development, and estrogen is the main hormone responsible for sex differences in behavior (1,2). There is great concern that estrogenic pollutants, at low concentrations, may mimic the action of estrogens on the CNS at an early age and produce long-lasting or irreversible effects on behavior (3–5). Bisphenol A (BPA) is a compound widely used in the food industry for polycarbonate bottles and linings of cans, as well as in dentistry as a hardener for sealants and for tooth lacquering. It is known to have an estrogenic action (6–8). Low doses of BPA administered perinatally can modify explorative behavior and anxiety in rats (9) and can advance puberty in female mice (10), although some effects are controversial (11). These observations indicate the importance of studying the effects of this compound on complex behaviors expressed during puberty. ビスフェノールについてのものです。よろしくお願いします。

  • 和訳 Because…home as

和訳 Because…home as Because…home as such can for so many no longer evoke the `remembrance of things past' it once did, it has fallen to other words, `nostalgia' among them, to comprehend the sometimes pedestrian, sometimes disjunctive, and sometimes eerie sense we carry of our own past and of its meaning for present and future.

If you imagine a rope, you can separate this one rope into many strands. One is the material worldly life and all you experience in it. Another strand is the past incarnations lives you have lived, their dormant memories are stored in your unconscious. The past too in this one life is another strand, it was once as real as now, and somewhere it still exists as real. The future too is real but as yet unlived. Deep inside our self we all know our own future, but only the few are gifted to know it consciously. And there is dream, we may think we dream but some dreams are fragmentary memories of other lives and dimension reached through sleep. In your subconscious these other realms hold memories of this older eternal love, its past and its future are already known, and this why the relationship will be an irresistible one, like a haunting spell cast over you.
