One interesting difference between the American and Japanese cultures is the area of tolerance and forgiveness. The Japanese will tolerate a great deal more than the average American without complaining. This is because it is rude to complain and fuss about little things in Japan.

It is only in the present dimension of time-that which lies between past and future, between what has already happened what is yet to comethat freedom and the priority of the political for the human world fully emerge in Arendt's thought. For her the political is by no means the be-all and end-all of human experience. It is distinct from “what we can do and create in the singular: in isolation like the artist,in solitude like the philosopher,in the inherently worldless relationship between human beings as it exists in love and sometimes in friendship.

1The physique of Americans is bigger than that of the Japanese. 2Americas have better physiiques than the Japanese(do). Americans are bigger/or more muscular/bigger in build(in the physique) than the Japanse. 31Japanese men have smaller penises than Canadian men (do). 4The size of Japanese penises is smaller than that of Canadian ones.

Compared with other my friends, my life is very unusual. I had been to Australian for four months after graduation from high school. It was my best experience I have ever had. The smell of air was cool and freshness when I arrived in Cairns airport, which smell cannot get out of my mind. Of course, there were many culture differences between Japan and Australia such as food, thinking and language.

Can you tell the difference between rice grown in Japan and ( )? (1) American one (2) American rice (3) one of America (4) rice of America (平成6年(本) 第2問 A 問12) 上記の問題の答えは(2)ですが、(4)はthe rice of Americaなら文法的にOK(意味上はNGだが)と参考書にあったのですが、theが必要な理由が分かりません。andの前のrice grown in Japanはtheがないのですからrice of Americaもtheをつける必要が無いように思えるのですが?
