英文和訳について質問です
英文法の教科書に A reporter's success depends on whether he or she works well under pressure. (報道記者としての成功は、時間にせかされてよい仕事をするかどうかにかかっている) という例文が載っていました。英文中には「時間にせかされて」を意味する語はないように思うのですが、どうしてこのような和訳になるのでしょうか？

Pressure を締め切り前の時間を気にする プレッシャー (日本語(笑)) と勘違いしたのでしょうね。 勿論 Pressure は「抑圧」であり「政治的圧力とかに負けてはいけないよ！」という文である筈です。……素直に「抑圧 (まぁ Desk からの抑圧でしょうが(笑))」と訳しても充分に意味が通じるのにね(^^;)。

(和訳)彼が病気になって3日してから医者が呼ばれた。 (解説)この文のthree days は主節の動詞にかかって「期間」を示している。The seed must lie in the earth a long time before it springs to life. (種子は芽を出す前に長い間地中に埋まっていなければならない)の a long time も主節の動詞である、must lie を修飾する。 We often see a flash of lightning long before we hear the thunder. (雷鳴を聞くずっと前に稲妻が見られることが多い) では「…のずっと前のある時点が示される」のに対し、この文では「…の長い期間」が示される点に注意。 上記のような和訳と解説があるのですが、three days before でひとつの固まりとして捉え、 (和訳)医者が呼ばれる3日前、彼は病気だった。 とすることはできないのでしょうか？ 解説にあるように、before の前の修飾語が、before を修飾するのか、主節の動詞を修飾するのかはどのように見分ければ良いのでしょうか？ 何卒宜しくお願い致します。

ご存知の通り，「may well」には，「おそらく～するだろう」と「～するのももっともだ」の二通りの訳し方がありますが，さて， She may well be angry with him. He broke his promise. という例文は，解答は，「怒るのも尤もだ」だったのですが，文脈を整えさえすれば，「おそらく怒っているだろう」でも不思議ではありません。 さて，この「may well」を訳し分ける際の判別基準はいったい何なのでしょうか？
