No other city in Japan is larger than Tokyo の文で 日本のcitｙの中に東京が含まれるのでotherを入れることでcityの中から東京を除外でき『東京とその他の都市』を比較できる。と習いました。 ならば、なぜNo city is Japan is so large as Tokyoにはohterはいらないのでしょうか。そして New York is larger than any other cith in Europeではなぜotherを入れなければいけないのでしょうか。ニューヨークはヨーロッパの都市ではないのでotherはいらないはずです。先生に聞いても、覚えろばかりで納得の行く説明をしてもらえません。有識者の方ご指南お願いします。
