>>that wasn't allはit wasn't allにはできないのでしょうか？ この文脈では不適切でしょう that は漠然とした不確かなもの(=あれ) it は同じような使われ方はするものの、漠然としたというよりも、ある程度範囲が限定されてthatよりも自身を持って「それ」と特定するような物言いの時に使われている(ようです) やはり、that と it は距離感が違うわけで 遠い that と 近い it では感じ方が違います She was telling a lie, I knew it. というのと She was telling a lie, I knew that. というのでは受ける印象が違います(私としては) 同じだとする人もいるかもしれませんが it とすると、it = "a lie" と感じますし (何かを言っているが、それは「ウソ」とわかっていた(他の人は真実と思うかもしれないが)) that とすると、that = "telling a lie" と感じます(これはもう少し視点が遠くなって、「ウソを言っている」という状況全体を見渡したような言い方)
