recommend は、普通に、SVO, SVOO として使える動詞なので、 recommend 誰々/何々、誰々/何々を推薦する/紹介する、 誰々のときには、as ～、～(という立場・役職)として、for ～、～(という仕事・任務など)に、などが付くことが多い。 recommend ～ing、～することを薦める、 recommend (that) 誰々 (should) ～、誰々が(一番多いのはyou)～することを薦める。 recommend 誰々 何々 ＝ recommend 何々 to 誰々、 誰々に何々を推薦する/紹介する(何々のところが、人になる場合も少なくない) など、普通に考えられるような用法は、一通りあります。

I’m a single woman with a large extended family. I cope with the enormous project of buying Christmas presents by getting them very early. Everyone in my family knows this; it’s the family joke that I have all my presents purchased by Halloween.
