英語の問題集を解いていて、わからないものがあります。 Surprising ( ) seem, the Bible is still the world's best-seller. (1) may it (2) however it may (3) as it may (4) does it という問題で、(1)が正解でした。その後、 Astonishing ( ) seem, he is the very person that you have been looking for. (1) so it may (2) as it may (3) may it (4) does it という問題が出てきたので、(3)を選んだのですが、(2)が正解になっていました。これらの文にはどういう違いがあるのでしょうか。わかる方がいましたら、ご回答よろしくお願いします。

どちらも as it may だと思います。 Surprising may it seem は接続詞がないので2文を接続できません。 倒置構文としても Surprising it may seem の形になるはずです。 (it は代名詞なので CSV の形) ただ、主節の文に still があるのでやはり譲歩を表す副詞節と考えられ Surprising as it may seem だと思います。

Is the following sentence in the Bible perfectly grammatical? "The gospel keeps bringing blessings and is spreading throughout the world, just as it has among you ever since the day you first heard about the grace of God and came to know it as it really is." (Colossians 1.6, Good News Bible) What does the first "it" refer to? Does the following "has" take an object? Or any past participle of verb?
