companyには、「交際」「友達」という意味もあります。 we have enjoyed her company. は、「私達は、彼女とご一緒できて、楽しかったです」というような意味で使われます。

No.1の方のご説明で十分だとは思いますが、補足しますとcompanyのこの場合の意味は the state of being with someone 同伴, 同席 ということです。

英会話の本を見ていると、We have ではじまる 文が多くでていますが、いまいち解釈がわかりません。 We have much snow. にしたときと It's much snow. にしたときって違いはありますか？ 教えてください。

「私たちは仲間である」と表現するのに、We are company. は適しているでしょうか。 中学生の子供の英作のチェックをしていて、不自然なような気がするのですが、自信もありません。 例えばWe are in good company. 「我々はよい仲間である」や、Tom is my good company. 「トムは私のよい連れだ・」などはOKですよね？？ 特に、後者のTom is my good company.がOKの場合、be動詞+companyは使えるということで、We are company. はOKでしょうか。もしくは、We are in company.にするのでしょうか。 子供はgoodという語は使いたくないようで、「同じ学校の仲間だ」と表現したいようです。 適した表現をどうぞご指導お願いします。

company と companionの違いを調べてみると "Company" - in this context is a non count noun. It means we are with another person or other people. We do not use the article "a" in front of it. I have company = there is another person or some other people with me. "Companion" - in this context is the person you are travelling with. It is a countable noun so we use the article "a" unless there is more than one. I have a companion. I have 2 companions. I have several companions. という英文が出てきたのですが、 companyは数えられなくて、companionは数えられるということですよね？ 同じ仲間でも数えられるのと数えられないのがあるということがよくわかりません… 仲間なら数えられるんじゃ…と思ってしまいます。 誰か分かりやすく説明していただけませんか？ お願いします。
