こんにちは。 ＃１の方の説明は成る程いい説明だなあと思ったのですが、ちょっと無理があるように思います。 これは、throw away Ａ on Ｂ と考える方べきだと思います。「ＡをＢに投げ捨てる」→「ＡをＢに浪費する」「ＡをＢに無駄遣いする」 throw away が waste の意味ですね。 次のような例がネットで見つかります。 We do not throw away our money on crap like the lottery and casinos. Don't throw away your time and money on such trifles. I hope that he does not throw away his career on such nonsense. extracurricular activity は、「不倫」とか「浮気」でしょう。 ＞原文：She thought I was going to throw away my career on a stupid extracurricular activity. 「彼女は、私が出世をつまらぬ不倫に捧げてしまうと思った」 のような感じでしょうか。
