市民講座のテキストについて質問です。
昨日のテキスト中に下記のような文章がありました。 It is a question, dear reader, that would occur only to a young man, but may the good Lord put it into yout head as often aspossible!...The mention of badtemperd and unstable people remainds me that during the whole of this day may behaviour has been abouve reproach. 英辞郎では"above reproach"(申し分のない,非の打ちどころがない)、とありました。がアメリカ人の講師は"very bad"or"so bad that it can't be criticized"と定義していました。直感でこう思ったとおもうのですが、辞書とは全く反対の意味になっています。どう考えたらいいのでしょうか？ メンバーに質問されて初めて彼もはてな？と思ったようで、来週まで考えてみると言っていました。が気になってしょうがありません。どなたか解説していただけるとありがたいです。
