the を使うと、「その場で語らなくても共通理解のある」the, という用法もあります。例: the hospital 慣用で the を使う場合もあります。 それはおいといて。 the は前方照応が基本でしょうが、うしろから限定を受けた場合、やはり「選択範囲の制限」が起こるので、結果的に the を伴う場合が多いけれども、後ろから限定を受けること自体が the の出現確率を高めているので、世間に流布した誤解（taked さんが批判されている点のひとつです）があるのだろうと思います。 その本の批評の文は出だしの文だとしたら、the は前方照応じゃないですよね。 いずれにしても考える価値があります。
