everについて質問です。
Indeed,they often feel like a man lost deep in the forest ; he can see the trees, but not even the forest as a whole. （大学受験の英文読解の透視図p2） このeverの用法はどういうものなのでしょうか？よろしくお願いします。

こんにちは！ 「樹を見て森を見ず」といういい言葉がありますね！その英語版のような印象を受けました。 Indeed,they often feel like a man lost deep in the forest ; he can see the trees, but not ever the forest as a whole. not ever ＝ never というのは、基礎知識です。 実際、彼らは森の奥深くで道に迷った人間のように感じる。木々は見ることができるのだが、森全体は、けっして見ることができないのだ。 英語の森に迷い込むと、ホント、こんな感じがしますね．．．（←余計なボヤキでした！）

not ever ですか，それとも not even ですか？ この英文では not ever になると思いますが， not ever ＝ never「決して～しない」 と考えてください。

too often : あまりに頻繁に これにa littleを追加した時 a little too often これは often よりは少しばかり頻度が高いという意味でしょうか? あるいは、too oftenと言う時の控えめの表現なのでしょうか? 使われていた場面:: Star trek ENTERPRISEというドラマにおいて、バルカン人（という種族）が主人公らの船に頻繁に出くわす時、主人公であるJonathan Archerが同僚のバルカン人に対して 「I am starting to feel that they (the Vulcan) are looking us over a shoulder, a little too often.」 と言ってました。
