比較級のことでお願いします。
こんばんは。 「君よりカワイイ娘はいなかったよ」と言いたい場合は I didn't find any prettier girls than you. で良いのでしょうか？ I didn't find a pretty girl more than you. と言うこともできるのでしょうか？ 宜しくお願いします。

sarugolferさん、こんにちは！ ＞「君よりカワイイ娘はいなかったよ」と言いたい場合は ＞I didn't find any prettier girls than you. そうですね、ちょっと変えるともっと自然になりますね。語順だけを変えますね。 I didn't find any girls prettier than you. また、よりネイティブっぽい言い方でしたら、 「There weren't any girls better looking than you.」 外人的にはprettyは確かにカワイイなんだけど、子供っぽいフィーリングがあるんですね。だから大人ならどちらかと言うと美人系、セクシー系と言った方が喜ぶんですね。つまりここでgood lookingを使う事によって大人の表現に変えていると言う事なんですね。 ＞I didn't find a pretty girl more than you. これはちょっと直す必要がありますね。 「I didn't find any girl more pretty than you.」で良いと思いますが、ネイティブはこんな言い方は使いませんね。 No girl there could compare to your beauty!なんて歯が浮くような言い方もできるんですね。 こんな感じでお分かり頂けたでしょうか。

一般的な言い方ですが You are the coolest girl I ever met. でしょうか coolest girl の部分は most pretty girl とか 主に「十代」の方をさして言います その方が大人の女性でしたら most beautiful woman でしょう 話し口調なら ”You're the most beautiful woman I ever met.” となるでしょう

質問の文章ですが、比較級と書かれていますが、それ以上に誰もいないときは最上級になるのでは。 あと確固たる理由はわかりませんが、こういう場合でprettierとアメリカ人がいうのを聞いたことがありません。 以下の言い方が一番一般的です。 You are the most pretty girl I ever met.
こんにちは。 ＞I didn't find any prettier girls than you. で良いのでしょうか？ ↑の文章は正しいですよ。でももし単純に「君よりカワイイ娘はいなかったよ」と訳すのであれば、 「There were no prettier girls （than you）.」 とも言えますよ。ただ、彼女に話していて明らかに内容がはっきりしていれば、"than you" を言わくても充分に通じますよ。 ＞I didn't find a pretty girl more than you. と言うこともできるのでしょうか？ more than はほとんどの場合「～を上回る」などと訳します。これは、物の量や、大きさが超過している状態を示しますので、この場合は意味がちょっと通じないことになります。 「I didn't find any fat girls more than you」 (君より太った女の子は見つけられなかった） など、彼女の体型を上回るほど太った女の子はいなかった。。ということになりますよね。ですのでこの場合は使うことはできません。その他 He has a pretty girlfriend more than I have. （彼には僕の彼女よりもかわいい彼女がいる） ↓ His girlfriend is prettier than my girlfriend. と同じ意味になります。 長々とすみませんでした。お役に立てれば幸いです。

こんばんは。 どちらの文も文法的には問題ないと思います。 ただ、「君が一番カワイイ」というニュアンスを 醸し出したければ、 You were prettier than any other girl. みたいな感じの文もありかな、と思います。 どれが正しいというのは一概には言えませんが。 お答えになったでしょうか？

例えば、下記のような文章を頭から読むにはどうしたらいいでしょうか？ I did't like her any more now that she was dead than I did while she was alive. 私の場合、「私は、好きじゃない、彼女を、もう、今は、彼女は死んだ、」と読んできて、thanまできて「あれ、このthanは何？」と考えてそこで読み直して 「not any more than」か。と気付くわけですが、すらすら読める方はno more than、not more thanなどのややこし比較級をどんな読み方をしているのでしょうか？ 頭の中を公開してくださ～い。お願いします。

(2)Work is ( no ) ( more ) the object of life than play is. （１）と（２）の書き換えを勉強しています。（１）から（２）にするのに、 Work is the object of life no more than play is. にならない理由がわかりません。 no the object of lifeにならない（noのあとtheがつかない）くらいはわかるのですが、I like basketball more(better) than soccer. を考えると be動詞の後名詞が来たら moreが最後くる。とかWork is 名詞+moreとかになるのじゃないですか？ たぶん何かが間違っているとは思うんですが、何が間違っているかわかりません。よろしくお願いします。
