Dietが日本語のダイエット（減量）と全く同じ意味で使われるという事をご存じなく、食べ物や栄養（厳密にはNutritionですが）の意味だけで解釈しようとすると確かに意味が通じなくなると思います。 My diet historyとかMy diet diary, I did my diet, successfully diet などのキーワードでGoogleなどで英文検索すると、『私はこうしてダイエットに成功した』みたいなのがいくつかヒットしますよ。 （検索する場合はGoogle.co.jpだと日本語の結果が出ますので、Google.comで検索してください） 勿論、Nutrition（栄養）に近い意味でも使われますし、食の歴史（例えばアメリカ人の食生活の変移など）や病院食、健康食などの意味でヒットするサイトも沢山あります。 参考までに、"I'm on a diet" というフレーズは日常で頻繁に使われます。ジョークにもなるほどです。 一般の会話例だと、私は170センチ55キロの男性ですが友人宅で食事を勧められて"Thank you. I love to (do so) but I'm on a diet" ⇒"Really ? You don't need to (be)" ⇒"No. I don't....Actually, I have to go somewhere tonight" などなど・・・ I'm on a diet を食事を勧められたり甘いものを出された時の口実に使ったりします。(要は日本で「私ダイエット中なので・・・」と同じ使い方ですね。 (補足：英国や英国系英語で使われるかどうかは知りません） それを理解した上で、Dietを日本語のダイエット(美容の為の減量）と同じに読み取ると 彼女は（自分の）バミューダと白いポロシャツを着ていたが、ダイエットの軌跡が見受けられる（=『体つきがちょっと変わった』⇒多分今では少しサイズが大きい）ブレンダの物とは少しだけ違いがあった。 こう解釈すると『little dietary history⇒体つきがちょっと変わった』は納得がいきませんか？ 勿論、which was unlike Brenda's only in that it had a little dietary history of its own. という使い方は、ちょっとひねったお茶目な（読む側が楽しくなる）言い方です。 もしこれが若い女性が主人公の小説ではなく、議事録や日報のようなな文章だとすると She was wearing her own Bermudas and her own white polo shirts. Her white polo was same as Brenda's. There is little difference between them. Difference was Brenda's polo was little oversized. It seems the polo was the one which she used to wear before she did diet.（or "before she had done diet") と、事務的なつまらない文章になっていたかもしれません。

That was arranging horseback riding lessons . I figured if this person had horses , then chances are I could probably arrange some lesson. I had another reason for wanting to talk to a psychologist . That being I wanted to tell her all about Philip and ask her professional opinion . Everything I had been through with Philip was so confusing . 文の一節で、二箇所抜き出しました。chances～のところの文法的な意味がわかりません。that being, been through with の訳がわかりません。宜しくお願いします。

英語の訳がなかなか上手く繋がりません、一応訳してみたものの、あっているか不安なんです。なので訳の方もアドバイスをください。 『Mond was pleased with her work.』の訳が『モードは喜んで働いた』 『My Anne is a real human girl.』の訳が『私のアンは本当に人間味のある女の子です』 『She is everything in the story. She is the book.』の訳が『彼女はこの話にかけがえのないものです。彼女はこの本です』 『Moud sent the manuscript to several publishers , but none of them like it. She had never had such a terrible disappointment.』の訳が『モードは原稿をいくつかの出版社に送ったが、何処もそれを気に入らなかった。 彼女はこれまでにこんなにも酷く失望したことはない。』 『Nobody could tell her how to get over her disappointment.』の訳がわからなくて困っています。大体はわかるのですが繋がらなくて・・・訳すことが出来ません。 誰かわかる方、アドバイスしてくださる方教えてください!!!
