英語の訳がなかなか上手く繋がりません、一応訳してみたものの、あっているか不安なんです。なので訳の方もアドバイスをください。 『Mond was pleased with her work.』の訳が『モードは喜んで働いた』 『My Anne is a real human girl.』の訳が『私のアンは本当に人間味のある女の子です』 『She is everything in the story. She is the book.』の訳が『彼女はこの話にかけがえのないものです。彼女はこの本です』 『Moud sent the manuscript to several publishers , but none of them like it. She had never had such a terrible disappointment.』の訳が『モードは原稿をいくつかの出版社に送ったが、何処もそれを気に入らなかった。 彼女はこれまでにこんなにも酷く失望したことはない。』 『Nobody could tell her how to get over her disappointment.』の訳がわからなくて困っています。大体はわかるのですが繋がらなくて・・・訳すことが出来ません。 誰かわかる方、アドバイスしてくださる方教えてください!!!

いつも回答ありがとうございます。 私の分からない点は、 it had a little dietary history of its own の所だけなんです。「ちょっとした独自の食習慣を持っていた」一体何を言いたいのだい？と思いました。独自の食習慣→独自の体つきに意味を結び付けるには私にとっては少し努力が必要でした。 この著者の表現では以前にも質問しましたよね？日本語では「ずり上がったお尻の所を引っ張って元に戻した」となるのをこの著者は Her hands suddenly appeared behind her. She caught the bottom of her suit between thumb and index finger and flicked what flesh had been showing back where it belonged. My blood jumped. と表現しました。 思い出すのは安倍首相とトランプ大統領の「相性が合う」ということが話題になった時です。英語ではThey have a good chemistry.という言い方があるんですね。彼らは良い化学を持っていると直訳しても何のことか分かりません。 cbm51901さんにお訊ねしたいのですが、 flicked what flesh had been showing back where it belonged とか、 it had a little dietary history of its own これらの表現は著者独自の表現で、アメリカ人でもちょっと考えないと理解出来ない部類なのか、それとも独自ではあるけれどもこのくらいの表現ならフツーにサッと理解出来るのか、それともchemistryのような慣用句に近い表現なのか、どうなんでしょう？ というのは、サマーセットモームのエッセーと短編を最近読んだのですが、著者独自と思われる理解に苦しむフレーズに出くわした記憶がないからです。理解出来ない場合は私の一般的な英語力が不足しているせいでした。 多くの英文を読んでいるわけではないので、理解出来ない場合自分の英語力の不足のせいか、それとも著者のクセの強さのせいか区別が付きません。 cbm51901さんの意見を聞かせて頂けたら、今後の勉学の指針にもなりますので宜しくお願い致します。
