これは当然最善の回答をなさった＃1さんへの賛成票です。 ＞＞we’re even Stephenの意味がわからないのですが、you’re firedは「きみは解雇だよ」ということですか？つまり、その日の午後だけお店を手伝ってくれればそれでいいよ、ということですか？ そうです。 これは＃1さんのおっしゃる通り英語の地口です。ちょうど日本語の「おそれ入谷の鬼子母神」、「その手は桑名の焼き蛤」の前後が音だけで繋がっているような物です。 ほかに see you later「じゃあまた」に alligater「鰐」と続け、それに応じて not so soon 「あんまり『すぐ』じゃ無ければね」baboon「狒々猿」と韻を踏むだけの付けたりをします。 で、これで借りも貸しも無くなる訳だから、お前はクビだ、というわけです。
