いいと思います。 much は fewer を強める働きをしています。 「カントーは17年間というものずっと、オウェンよりもはるかに低カロリーな食事を摂ってきた」

Cantoは17年間にわたり毎日、Owenよりもずっと低カロリーの食事を摂ってきた。 [和訳（翻訳）に関して] これは私個人の意見ですが、突き詰めますと、「趣味（好み）」の問題になってきます。 勿論、原文から正確に意味を読み取り、誤解を生まないようそれを正しくかつ分かり易い日本語に変換することができなければなりません。ここまでは最低限のレベルで、直訳調の翻訳（word-for-word translation）がこれに近いと思います。 そこから先は、翻訳する人の力量といいますか、クセといいますか...、まぁ、なんといったらよいか...。 翻訳された文の評価に関しては一方で、読み手の「好み」も関係してきます。 例えばご質問の文であれば、「17年」を最初に持ってくる人もいれば、「Canto」を主語として頭に持ってくる人もいるでしょう。「カロリーの低い食事をしてきた」でも、「低カロリーの食事を摂ってきた」でも、言っていることは同じです。遜色ないと思います。ただ、読み手によって好き嫌いが出てくるのも事実なわけで、そうしたところが翻訳の面白さの一つだと思います。

17年間毎日、Cantoは、Owenよりもずっとカロリーの低い食事をしてきた。 muchは比較級を強める働きをします。 なくても意味は通ります。 食事を食べてきたーーではしつこいので、食事をしてきたーーと訳してあります。 以上、ご参考になればと思います。

以下の文の和訳でわからない部分があって困っています。 英語に詳しい方、教えていただけると嬉しいです。 A recent medical survey of 15,000 Chinese adults found that, among those with hypertension, less than half were even aware of the problem. テキスト解答の和訳は以下のとおりです。 「1万５千人の成人中国人を対象とした最近の医学的調査によれば、高血圧症の人々の中で、その半数未満の人は問題を自覚すらしていないことが判明した。」 後半部分の訳が「その半数未満の人は問題を自覚すらしていないことが判明した。」となっていますが、この部分がなぜこのような訳になるかが分かりません。 （'～していないことが～。’←否定文になる理由が不明。Evenが否定の意味になる？？） ちなみに、自分の和訳では、「半分より少ない人がその問題を認識していた。」となりました。
