Just get back to being a normal guy.. ? Ray, without a bottom how will an addict know he's loosing everything? The addict must see the bottom.. Blaming your co-workers for this is absolutely, completely and utterly wrong. This is about saving someone's life. Years ago Weiland and Patrick were friends, bonding on the Family Values Tour over a decade ago. Patrick went on to perform in the short lived supergroup Army of Anyone with the DeLeo brothers from 2005-2007. Weiland has admitted to struggling with alcoholism in the last 5-6 years after a few years of being clean and sober. Vocally Bennington channels Scott Weiland circa Velvet Revolver's Libertad during the verse, and his melody on the pre chorus reminds me of Shangri LA DEE DA. On the chorus though he sounds nothing like Weiland, he actually reminds me of Richard Patrick in the 90's. This song is what I kind of imagined Army of Anyone sounding like (their sole album ended up being far mellower than I had thought it would be). I prefer “Out of Time” to most of Army of Anyone's album, and roughly half of Talk Show's album (there's some really memorable songs on that album). Dean DeLeo's guitar solo is vintage STP.

We wanted to take the DeLeo brothers to my sound design and we did a lot of that, but I went at it so that under no circumstances could I be compared to Scott Weiland. I had to sing everything high and I wanted to sing way up there because Scott's a baritone and the moment you start singing baritone stuff… so I was adamant that they stay in the key of drop D because that's where my voice likes to hang out. I kept saying things like, “I wanna rock. I wanna do really fast, exciting stuff!” Bennington: They had decided to move forward without Scott, and were talking about who they wanted to move forward with. My name got brought up … and I was like, “Fuck yeah!” I didn't even think about it. It was like a dog looking at a squirrel, getting instantly excited and wanting to chase it.

STP released all six of their albums from 1992 to 2010 on Atlantic Records. The band were involved in a lawsuit with Atlantic in 2008 when the label sued former frontman Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz for attempting to get out of their contract so STP could self-release their new music. The DeLeo brothers had been let out of their contract for Army of Anyone. STP and Atlantic worked out their issues and STP's 2010 self-titled comeback album was released on Atlantic.
