今日のNHKWORLD NEWSです。 He stressed that the next election is going to be about whom the American public believes shares their values and that the people still back his approach to governing. 次の選挙では、アメリカ国民の信じる人がその価値観を共有し・・ 国民がまだ国を治める事を後押ししてくれていると強調した。 上手く訳せません。 よろしくお願いします。

No5です。少し分かりにくい解釈をしまちたが・・ about whom the American public believes の部分の構造は the one/person/him who the American publice believes = whom American public believes = American public believes the person これが主格になり about that American public beleives the preson shares ~ = about whom American public beleives share ~

No1の方と同意見ですが、これは連鎖関係代名詞節とも言えると見ました。 whom(who)からtheir valueまでを書き直すと the American public believes that he shares their values.... そしてheをwhoにかえます で、このwhoが前に出てthatが省略されると件の文になります。意味は 彼らの価値観を共有するとアメリカ国民が信じる人 となります。

is going to の助動詞と動詞の be が訳されていない。 aboutを接続詞としてみなせば、beは自動詞になる。 自動詞で添付辞書の2番のｂ。辺りの使い方で http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/be To remain in a certain state or situation undisturbed, untouched, or unmolested: ～の状態にある 保たれている・・・ 次の選挙では、アメリカ国民の信じる人がその価値観を共有し国民がまだ国を治める事を後押ししてくれている筈であると強調した。 とでも付け加えれば良いはずです。

単純な英文なのですが、どうしても分からない所があるので教えてください。 あの女優は来月結婚するようだ （They say that that actress is going to get married next month.） 何故getがつくのでしょうか？ また、何故わざわざgetのつく文になっているのでしょうか？ 辞書で調べてみても、"marry"はSVO構文で"～と結婚する"という意味の動詞として扱われています。 目的語Ｏに"someone"つまりは"誰か"というものを入れて、 (They say that that actress is going to marry someone next month.) としても十分に意味は伝わると思うのですが・・・。 どなたかご教示お願いします。

hear（動詞）についてお伺いします。 台本や、ト書などで、現在形で書くことがあると思う のですが、たとえば、「彼女はDavisさんから、彼女が 中国に来週行くと聞きます」ということを英語で表わす 場合、 She hears from Ms. Davis that she is going to go to China next week. という使い方は自然でしょうか。私としては、Davisさんが彼女に直接 自分のことを話しているので、この場合、hear だと少し変な気がする のですが・・・（Ms. Davis says that ～. や、Ms. Davis tells her that ～. ならいいような気がします。） それと「彼女はDavisさんから、彼女が中国に来週行くと聞いた」という場合は She heard from Ms. Davis that she was going to go to China the next week. という表現でもよいのでしょうか。 toldやsaidで表わした方がよいですか。 よろしくお願いします。

”Now that we're finished sorting and bundling the mail, our next job is going to be to deliver these bundle to the appropriate department” という文において、疑問点が二つあります。 １：”we're finished sorting～” これが、we've(we have)finished sorting～ なら自然だと思うのですが、 we are finished と受身になっているのは何故でしょうか？これも自然な表現なのでしょうか？ この文を能動態に直そうとすると、S finishes us sorting and bundling the mail でしょうか、とするとこれは誰かにさせられたというようなニュアンスになるでしょうか？ ２：”our next job is going to be to deliver～” なんだかまどろっこしいな、と思いました。 our next job is to deliver とするか、 our next job is going to deliver～ の方が自然に感じられるのですが、わざわざこのような表現になっているというのは、どういう風に解釈すれば良いでしょうか？
