英文の翻訳について 以下の文を日本文に訳しています（中には訳していないのがあります）が、どうでしょうか。 また各構文（すべて比較級の構文です）のポイントとなることもよろしければ教えていただけると幸いです。 1.Of all the computers we have looked at, the least expensive one is the easiest to learn. 訳）分かりません。 ＊the least expensive one is the easiest to learn.の訳し方が分からず、前の文章とのつながりが分かりません。 2. She not only received a promotion but also received better salary. 訳）彼女は昇進しただけではなく、よい給料をもらっている。 ＊not only・・・but alsoの構文からこのような訳になりました。またbtter salaryの後ろにin her officeが隠れていると考えられます。 3.Mr.John seems to be the most capable of the ten aplication 訳）ジョン氏は１０人の志願者の中で最も能力のあると思われる。 4.He is youngest in our office, but gets the higher salary then any other exective 訳）彼は会社で最も若いが、他の幹部より高い給料をもらっている。 5.The new employee wrote a good report, but it wasn't as complete as ours その新入社員は、良いレポート書いたが他の人ほど良くなかった。 比較級は奥が深く、各構文のポイントを押さえることに苦労しています。 皆様のご意見をお待ちしています。

１．Of all「～の中で、～のうちで」。 the least がポイントです。これは程度が多い少ないという意味の範囲で、最も少ないという意味です。ですから、expensive(高価である）を形容すると、the least expensive 「最も高価でない、最も安価な」ということです。the easiest は the easiest one の one を省略した形ですが、to learn は「（使い方を）学ぶ/知るには」という意味です。 「今まで我々が見て来たコンピュータの全ての中で（判断すると）、最も安いものが最もわかり易い。」となります。 ２．not only ～ but also はそれでよいです。received「勝ち得た、受けた」、better salary は「より良い給料」ですが、他人との比較ではなく、自分の前の給料よりも良い、つまり昇給のことです。 「昇進しただけでなく昇給もした。」となります。 ３．はそれで良いと思います・ ４．綴りに注意してください。「最も能力があると思われ（てい）る」でけっこうです。 ５．it was not as complete as ours ですが、ours は our report の意味で、「それ(我々のレポート)」と as ～ as「比べて」、complete「完璧な、完全な、完成度の高い」では was not「なかった」となります。 「我々のレポートほど完成度が高くはない。」となります。 比較級の訳し方はパターン化していますから、慣れるしかありませんね。

編集間違えをしましたね。訂正です。 -------------------------------------- ３．はそれで良いと思います。「最も能力があると思われ（てい）る」でけっこうです。 ４．綴りに注意してください。the higher salary 「より高い給料（高給）」、than any other～「他のどの～よりも」。「他のどの幹部よりも」となります。

この構文で、butが使われている意味がわかりません。 普通、butは、He is small, but strong.というのように、対比した意味が来ますが、not only A but also Bでは、ＡとＢが同じ関係の単語が来ます。 Tofu is not only cheap but also healthy. この文では、「安い」と「健康的」という良い意味が並ぶのに、どうして、butでつなげているのですか？この構文の場合の、butの役割は何ですか？

“She is not only good looking but also beautiful” 「彼女は外見が綺麗というだけでなく、美しい」 …いわば、"She is good looking but not beautiful(顔は綺麗だけど彼女美人じゃないね）"の逆、にあたるのでしょうか。 beautifulの語の意味をよく表している文章ですね。 この文章、文法的に正しい、或いはきちんと意味の通る英文になってますでしょうか？ 辞書を引くと、 "not only A but (also) B" の用例として、 "He not only does not work but will not find a job." とありましたので、もしかしたら “She not only is good looking but also beautiful” の方が正しいのかなとも思ったのですが、どうもなんだか変なような気がするのです。

And one of them is BNC input, but i have not BNC outs on my computer, only toslink and coax... Every of inputs on DAC has its original decoder only for one connection, and each connection has nuances in the sound.
