保護貿易政策について
この質問は英訳も関わってしまうので、もしかしたら削除の対象になってしまうかもしれませんが、経済の知識がないので どのように訳出すればよいかお手上げじょうだいです。 From Burussels to Beijing, via Washington and Southeast Asia, governments are responding to the lure of protectionism. This may be dressed up in politically seductive terms for the domestic market or formulated in terms of regional agreement. From ～は要するに「世界中が保護貿易主義に魅力を感じている」 ということだと思います。 問題は This ～ で、「この事は、国内市場への政治的利点という点で誇張されたり、地域協定の観点で構築されるかもしれません」と直訳してみたのですが、具体的に何を言っているのかさっぱり分からないのです。「この事」とは恐らく、前文を指しているか、保護貿易政策の魅力 のいずれかを指すとおもわれます。 経済的な観点でのアドバイスをいただければ 少しは訳語の選定がすすむのではないかと考え、質問することにしました。 どなたかアドバイスをおねがいします。

ThisはProtectionismをさしていると思われます。保護貿易というとイメージが悪いので、耳さわりのいい国内市場政策や地域貿易協定という名を借りることもままあるというのが後半の趣旨です。 昔ながらの保護主義政策はWTOなどの絡みもあり取りづらくなっているので、たとえば安全基準や検疫の強化、貿易相手国の環境基準や労働基準を理由にしたりなどより巧妙な手段で一見聞こえがいいけど実は本当の目的は自国産業の保護を計るのが最近の先進国のやり方です。

A non-member country's volume of exports and export profit to a customs union of size K is a devreasing function of K. これは「非メンバー国の、大きさＫの関税同盟への貿易量と貿易利潤は、Ｋの減少関数である」と和訳出来ると思うのですが、文法が分かりません。 それは、"export profit"と"to a customs union"の関係です。"volume of exports"と"to a customs union"は「関税同盟への貿易量」というかたちで理解できるのですが、"export profit"と"to a customs union"は「関税同盟の貿易利潤」となってしまうような気がします。 これと同根の問題（to）だと思うのですが、 An outside country's exports profits to the members of the merging unions fall from 1 to 0.8. という文が訳せません。 どなたか、よろしくお願いします。

The total amount of domestic debt securities held by overseas investors, long-and medium-term bonds and notes combined, has increased to approximately \50 trillion ($555 billion) in recent years from \30 trillion ($333 billion).This trend probably reflects the previously mentioned stability in the government bond market and expectations for improvement in bond yields. By region, unlike in the case of stocks, European investors still hold more than 50% of the total despite a downward trend, while American investors continue to hold only around 10%. The infantry attack from the south and southeast on the Ottoman garrison in and around Gaza was strongly resisted. While the Imperial Mounted Division continued to hold off threatening Ottoman reinforcements, the Anzac Mounted Division attacked Gaza from the north. They succeeded in entering the town from the north, while a joint infantry and mounted infantry attack on Ali Muntar captured the position. However, the lateness of the hour, the determination of the Ottoman defenders, and the threat from the large Ottoman reinforcements approaching from the north and north east, resulted in the decision by the Eastern Force to retreat. It has been suggested this move snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
