サイモンとガーファンクルの "the boxer" 歌詞の最初 (1) I am just a poor boy (2) Though my story's seldom told, (3) I have squandered my resistance (4) For a pocketful mumbles, (5) Such are promises. の(3)から(4)にかけて正確な意味がよくわかりません。 教えていただければありがたいのですが。 （勝手ながら直訳的な意味とこなれた訳を知りたいのです。） 本棚を整理していたら出てきたなつかしいテープです。今まで何気なくわかったつもりで聴いていたのですが、今回突然正確にはどうなんだろうと、気になっていらいら気味です。 よろしくおねがいします。

＃１で紹介されているサイトの訳詞でよいと思いますが、（４）は（３）を説明して、「私の反抗（の意気込み）を、少々ブツブツいうこと（だけ）で浪費してしまった」、（５）は両者を受けて、「そういう様に（なると）決まっているんだけど」という感じでしょうか。
