＞「Language is the life of the people who use it.」 これは、おそらく、life の意味すべてを含意していると思います。 ＞言語は、それを使用する人の生命である。 ＞言語は、それを使用する人にとって、生活である。 「生命」の方が妥当だとおもいますが、意味的には、二つ目の「生活」ような主張だと思います。「使用する人の生活」は、日本語として意味がとれないのです。

「言語はそれを話す人々の生活です」であっていると思います。 「は！？ってカンジです」というのも、書いた人の意図に合った、正しい反応だと思います。 「全然意味わからないよ～。どうしてだか教えてよ～」と思いながら、続きの文章を読むと、そこに説明が書いてあって、最後に「なるほど、そういうことだったのか」となるのが、筆者の意図したところだと思います。 あなたとしては、「全然意味わからないです」で止まらず、続きを読んでみる必要があります。

theが入っているので若干強調されたように感じます。 言語は使用する人々の生活そのものです とか 言語は使う者の生活自身といえます とか 意訳するとよいのではないでしょうか？

Even if it is difficult, it is necessary to communicate with people speaking foreign languages in business, politics, science and many other activities. （たとえそれが難しくても、ビジネスや政治、化学、そして他の多くの活動において、外国語を話す人々と意思の疎通をすることが必要です。） この文のspeakingという語がなぜ進行形になってるのか、わかりません。進行形なら訳は「外国語を話している（最中の）人々と」になるはず。 というのは、私の知識では、peopleとspeakingの間にwho are を入れればpeople who are speakingという風に「人々」と「話す」が主語と述語の関係になるから・・・という考えなのですが、これ間違っていますか？ ご指摘、もしくはアドバイスお願い致します。

But after hundreds of repetitions, the novelty wears off: the slang loses freshness and sparkle. The history of most slang expressions is that die an early death.
