連続投稿失礼します。 下記文中のlack of better descriptionをどう他の文と絡めてよいかが わかりません…。下記がその英文です。お分かりになる方、ご回答よろしくお願い致します。 【英文】 Given the growth of online, catalog, or, for lack of a better description, direct-response merchants, raking them side-by-side with brick-and-mortar retailers creates something of an apples-and-oranges comparison. 【訳文】 オンラインやカタログ販売の成長を受けて、あるいはうまく説明することが出来ないが（より良い説明が不足しているが？）、直接販売業者の影響を受けて、それらを従来型の店舗と一緒に並べることは統一性のないものを比較しているようなものである。

No.1です。ちょっと訂正。 「気の利いた呼び名」よりも、 「より適切な名称を思いつかないが」 「もっとましな呼び名があるだろうが」 のほうがいいかな。

「気の利いた呼び名を思いつかないが」という意味です。 オンラインカタログ、あるいは、オンラインの直販業（気の利い た呼び名を思いつかない）が成長しているからといって、その 業態と一般小売店舗とを比較してみても、りんごとみかんを 比べるようで無意味である。
