こんばんは。 She asked a friend and the friend's opinion she respected ちょっと文法としては間違っていますが、 日本語に直しやすくしたらこんなかんじでしょうね。 （本当は She asked a friend and she (usually) respected the friend's opinion） whose opinion は「その意見」ではなく、「友達の意見 a friend's opinion」です。 友達の意見ってどんなものかというと、opinion以後に書いてある 「彼女が尊重している」ものなのです。 彼女は友達に聞きました。 その友達の意見を彼女は尊重しています。 →彼女は彼女が（いつも）意見を尊重している友達にたずねました。 こなれた言い方をすると模範解答のようになるのでしょう。 となります。 一応、帰国子女なので経験者とさせていただきます。

恋愛相談を受けているひとに対してのアドバイスで 「あくまで私の意見ですが彼女はあなたのことをいい友達だと思っていると思います。」 といいたいのですが it is only my opinion, she think you as a best friend. であってますか？日本語の「あくまで…」は英語でこれっていう単語がありますか？ onlyを使うと私しか思っていない意見ってニュアンスになってしまうのでしょうか？私だけの意見じゃなく第三者として見ればそう見えるのですが、はっきり言うと傷つけてしまう気がするので、あくまで私の意見ですがといいたいのですが・・・。 あと友達と思っているという時の思うにthinkは使えますか？feelとかの方が自然でしょうか？ ながながと質問しましたがよろしくお願いいたします。

Facebookに関するとある英文記事に以下のような英文がありました。 "The only people who can send me friend requests are friends of friends, so I thought that meant no one else could see my profile," she said. "I think it's a bit misleading, really - there are so many options. I think they should make it easier to understand." この最初の一文は「友達リクエストを送れるのは友人の友人までだから、その他の人はプロフィールを見る事が出来ない」という意味だと分かるのですが、その後の文章の意味が分かりません。 どういう意味でしょうか。

大学受験用の参考書「英文解釈の技術１００」の演習９４番で分からないところがあるので教えてください。 問題の文章の一部ですが、Ever since her childhood she had been hearing her mother and her mothers friends talking of the new woman and the new woman's right to live her life as she chose. とあります。ここで、「母親の友人たち」と問題の解答で訳されている部分がher mother's friendsでなくて、her mothers friends となっている理由が分かりません。 宜しくご指導お願いいたします。

次の英文の文法についておしえてください。文は 1Long john,who had spent many years at sea,brought some of his friends to join the crew. ロングジョンは海で何年も過ごしていたので、クルーに加えるために何人かの友人を連れてきた。 2Nobody knew it,but Long Johon and his friends were pirates. しかしロングジョンと彼の友人は海賊とは誰も知らなかった。 という文なのですがここで出てくる１の文で「who」は関係代名詞であっているのでしょうか。 そして２番の文では「Nobody knew it」が先に来ていますがどうしても先に訳したら変なので「but」から訳したのですがあっているのでしょうか。英文に詳しい方がいましたら教えてください。お願いします。

英文を見てください。友人のお勧めのレストランに行って、そこのマネージャーがフレンドリーな方で少し話をしたのですが、そのときにうまく言えなかった言葉です。（文が長くなってくると混乱してきてしまいます・・・） 「このレストランのことは近くに住む友人に聞いてしりました。彼女のお気に入りで近くにきたときには絶対行くべきっていつも言っていたんです。」 I've heard about this restaurant from a friend of mine who lives near here. 先ずはご回答ありがとうございます。 なぜ「その」を付けたかと言いますと、 whoseは「その」と訳して処理するということを教えられていたからです。 ただ、この場合は文字通り「その意見／that's opinion」とも解釈出来てしまう為混乱を来たしました。
