ホイットマン 草の葉

原文に挑戦しました。 I sing the body electric というのは 「私は身体の衝撃を歌う」 ということでしょうか。意味としては、体に衝撃を受けるほどの感動を歌で表現しているんだ、という意味でしょうか。 教えていただければ幸いです。

こんばんは。 「草の葉」・・・懐かしいです。 読んだのは昔々です。翻訳されたものですが。 electric = full of excitement; making people excited (Oxford) 「私は歌う 興奮に震える身体で」 或いは 「私は歌う 興奮で身体を震わせながら」 詩ですからね。目的語を目的語と捉えた訳にしなくても良いかなと思いまして。 前後があれば もっと適訳が見つかるかもしれません。

私はビリビリくるからだを歌う。 --- ホイットマンの歌は吐き出すようなことばの総体をよまなければ 意味がつかめません。ここでいうbodyとは魂のことであり、ホイット マンは、女や男や子供や若者、そして夫や妻や、母親や父親など の身体に呼びかけてそれを魂にまで昇華させて歌い上げているの です。

原文を知りませんが、小説などに出てくる表現として以下のものがあります。  I kicked the foolish backet. 馬鹿やろう! と言って 足元のバケツを蹴った。 が その和訳でした。バケツという物体に 馬鹿も 賢明も ありませんが、話す主体と バケツが 入れ替わっている表現です。 また、ジャズシンガーが 表彰台で観衆にお礼をのべながら自分の生い立ちについて述べていた一節として以下の例があります。 I sing with my knees. ひざ を使って歌う。とでも訳すのか。 音楽家らしい表現です。 ここまで書けば、ほぼ回答になっていると思います。
