sitはここでは自動詞として使われているので、目的語を直接取ることが出来ません。そのために前置詞をおいて、その後ろに目的語をとっているわけです。「～に座る」というときはsit at/in/on～ を用います。意味としては「位置」のinです。inを用いるとonよりも「深々と座る」といった意味合いが出るようです。

英語の文法がわかりません。 読んで問題に答えることはできるのですが、文法の問題になるとあまり上手くいきません。 何が分からないのかを調べると文の種類の分野からわかりません。 名詞や形容詞、副詞などの見分けはある程度できるのですが、名詞節、副詞節、形容詞節（又は句）などの「代わりとなるもの」になると分かりません。 ですから簡単な問題も分かりません。 どんな間違いをするかと言うと簡単な問題、例えば 「その部屋には椅子がなかった。」を英語に直しなさいと言う問題で 答えは there wasa not a chair in tha room. となるはずが自分は there did not have a chair in tha room. と答えてしまいます。 この答えだと根本的に間違ってるようなんですが、なんでダメなのか分かりません。 是非教えてください。

今年高校生になる者です 英語の問題集でわからないところが２つあるのですが 回答お願いします！ １：冠詞について。 「これは川で捕まえた魚ですか？」 を、私は「Is this the fish caught in a river?」としたのですが 答えは「Is this a fish caught in the river?」でした 何ででしょうか？これって限定しているからtheじゃないんですか？？ ２：「あそこに座っている老人は誰ですか？」を 私は「Who is the old person sitting over there?」としたのですが 答えは「Who is the man sitting over there?」でした 老人って女性も入りますよね？manだったら男性っていうことになりますよね？ それともこういうのは小さな違いでどっちでもよかったりするんですか？

英会話初心者です。 レッスンでテキストを見ながら質問に答えていく中でどうしてもわからないことがありました。 先生に質問したのですがよくわからないのでこちらで質問させていただきます。 英会話の練習になるから先生に質問すべきというのはナシでお願いします。 質問はして答えてもらったのですが自分の英語力が乏しく、これ以上レッスンを止まらせるのはよくないと思いいったんこの疑問は持ち帰ることにしました。 ですのでよろしくお願いします。 Is it right you're Mr. Brown? と質問されて No, it isn't right I'm Mr. Brown, but it's right I'm Hanako Suzuki. と答えたところ No, it isn't right I'm Mr. Brown but it's wrong, I'm Hanako Suzuki. が正解でした。 it isn't right と it's wrong は同じ意味なのにどうして 「,」 から「,」の一文の中に入っているのでしょうか？ 今までのレッスンで （例）Are you going to the window? No, you aren't going to the window, but you're sitting on the chair. というのをやってきたのでこの「,」の場所や「but」の後の文章が納得できません。 よろしくお願いします。

"中学１年生"の英語のワークにこのような問題がありました。「Her sister is a singer.(a singer をたずねる疑問文にしなさい)」 解答がなくどのように解答されているか分からないのですが、中学１年生の知識をふまえて答えは「what is her sister?」にすると先生はおっしゃっておりました。 この疑問文で「her sister」の職業をたずねている文になっているのでしょうか？この疑問文は中学１年生の知識をふまえた上で解答として正しいのでしょうか？
