英文で分からないところがあります
いつもお世話になっています。 以下は、クリスマスイブに、障害を持つ弟に対して主人公の少年が、車を指差して「いつかああいうのをお前にも買ってやる」と言う場面なのですが、その英文中に解釈できない箇所があります。 "There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn't cost him a cent. And some day I'm gonna give you one just like it.... Then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've benn trying to tell you about." 「ほら、あそこに彼女（車）がいるよ、階段の上で言ったとおりだろ。あの人（車の持ち主）のお兄さんがクリスマスにあの人にプレゼントしたんだ。しかもただで。いつか、おれもお前にああいうのを買ってやるよ。そうすれば、お前は自分で、クリスマスの窓にある、おれが教えてやろうと思ってた全てのすばらしいものを見ることができるんだ」 上の英文で最後の一文、 Then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've benn trying to tell you about. この文がよく分かりません。in the Christmas windows というのは何のことでしょうか。また、前の文とのつながりで、「車を買ってやる」ことと、「すばらしいものを見る」ことはどのような関係があるのでしょうか。 どなたかご教示ください。

この文の中に 車という言葉は出てきません。 おそらくBuddyを 勘違いされたと思いますがBuddyは親しき者への呼びかけですから。 'ほら、おまえ 彼女はここにいるよ・・・僕が二階で言ったとおりだろ？彼の兄さんは弟にクリスマスプレゼントをしたのさ。しかもまったくのただでね。 いつか僕もお前に同じようにプレゼントするよ。 そして、僕がいつもお前に言って聞かせていた美しく飾られたクリスマスの飾りつけ(窓）全てを、お前のその目で見ることができるのさ。 Christmas windowsは家の中のクリスマスの飾り付けが外からでも見れるようにしてあることです。

＞in the Christmas windows というのは何のことでしょうか。 自信ないのですが、多分 Christmas windowsとはクリスマスムードの街中での、クリスマスの飾りつけをした窓や、クリスマスのものが並ぶショップウィンドウのことを指しているのだと思います。つまり、クリスマスのお祝いを色々な形でしている店や家の窓から見えるもののことではないでしょうか。 ＞前の文とのつながりで、「車を買ってやる」ことと、「すばらしいものを見る」ことはどのような関係があるのでしょうか。 その弟が障害者なのであれば、多分彼は一人で街中を歩くことが出来ないのでしょう。なので、彼に車さえあれば、それに乗り、「すばらしいもの」を見ることが出来る、ということだと思います。 大変わかりにくくてすみません。本当に自信がないのであくまで参考意見としてお読みください。

高校の教科書で読んだことがあります。２年前に。あのころはまじめに勉強をしていたので、ある程度覚えています。 Then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've been trying to tell you about." see for oneselfは、辞書では「自分の目で確かめる」という意味ですが、無理矢理付け足してわかりやすいように和訳すれば、 俺がお前にかつてからずっと教えよう（見せてやろう）としていたクリスマスのショウウィンドウの（あるいは家々に飾ってある）飾りにあるきれいなもの（おもちゃや飾り）を自分の目で見ることができるだろうよ。 つまり、素晴らしいものをみるというのは、素晴らしいものをあげるという意味です。彼女の兄が彼女に車をあげたということと、いつか自分は弟に（彼女の兄と同じくらい）素晴らしいものをあげるということを言っているのです。in the Christmas windowsというのは、クリスマスが近づくとよく見る家々の窓に飾られた飾りや、店のショーウィンドウを想像して下さいね。

Christmas windowsは、クリスマスの時期にデパートなどが特別に美しく飾り付けるウィンドウディスプレイのことだと思います。 Googleでイメージ検索してみました。 http://images.google.co.jp/images?hl=ja&q=Christmas+windows&btnG=%E3%82%A4%E3%83%A1%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8%E6%A4%9C%E7%B4%A2&gbv=2 その弟は障害があるということですが、恐らく歩くことができなくて、外出がままならないのでしょう。だからChristmas windowsを見ることができず、兄である少年が、「こんなすごい飾りがあったよ」と話してやっていた。車があれば、車で外出して、窓越しにChristmas windowsを見ることもできるということでしょう。
