おそらく，for crimes ～「～の罪のせいで」を it was ... that という強調構文にしようとして，途中で錯覚して，that led ～という動詞を続けてしまったのでしょう。本来なら，that he was extradicted のようにするか，it was crimes ～ that led to the extradition. とすべきところではないでしょうか。

この記事は Drug kingpin extradited to U.S.”麻薬組織の大ボスアメリカへ送還”と言うタイトルです。記事全体がこの彼のアメリカへの送還について書かれています。 その事を頭に入れて記事を読んでいくと比較的簡単にit was for crimes he allegedly committed while in .....で使われてる it はextraditionを指していることが解ると思います。 解りやすく訳してみました。 Rodriguez Orejuela は１９９５年に逮捕された後も牢獄の中から指示を出し彼のエンパイア（麻薬組織）を操っていた。しかし今回の送還は彼が１９９９年から２００２年の間に獄中で起こした犯罪によるものである。 この後の文に、”コロンビアの法律では、１９９７年以前に麻薬取引で起訴された者は送還の対象にはならない。”と書いてあります。彼の場合、１９９７年以降、つまり１９９９年から２００２年の間に恐らく獄中での麻薬取引またはそれに関わる事で起訴されたので対象外という事です。 これで意味がつながります。参考にしてください。

ご回答ありがとうございます。 it was for crimes he allegedly committed while in prison from 1999 to 2002 that led to the extradition のitがextraditionだとしたら、この文の最後のextradition はダブってしまって、変じゃないでしょうか。 すみませんがもうすこし詳しく教えていただけないでしょうか。よろしくお願いします。 No1さんのおっしゃるようit is ...の構文が間違って書かれたと取ると意味的にはすっきりします。でも新聞でもこんな間違いがあるんでしょうか。 itをある単語の代名詞ととると、文法的にはすっきりしますがよく意味が飲み込めなくなります。

下記の文ですが、意味はとれるので問題ないのですが、 文の構造についていくつかの疑問があります。ご教授いただけたらと思います。 （1）It was not until baby was fed that he stopped crying. 本来は、The baby did not stop crying until he was fed だと思います。これだと意味もわかり易いのですが、強調構文になった途端、理解に苦しみます。 ここでのthatは ～なのは、というような役目？ (2) Who was it that read my diary while I was out? it that read のところが解釈に苦しみます。 (3) I don't want there to be any trouble. there to be のところがよく判りません。
