Low and OrderというTVドラマのWANDERLUSTというエピソードのシーンです。刑事Stablerが被害者の死体を現場で調査中です。そこで制服警官が付き添っています。 Stabler: So anyone knows this guy’s story is? Uniform: He was a writer, according to the landlady. Stabler: Oh! Writer, huh! Uniform: Travel book according the landlady. 被害者は口をテープで覆われていて、そのテープをはがしたStablerは被害者の口の中に何か押し込まれているのに気付きそれを口から引っ張り出します。出てきたものは女性用下着(パンティー)です。被害者は男です。それをみて Stabler: Looks like he choked on his own words. といいます。on his own words.のところがよく分かりません。口は災のもと見たいな感じでしょうか。 ストーリーはQNo.2653246の続きです。 http://oshiete1.goo.ne.jp/qa2653246.html

この言い回しで検索しますと、胸がいっぱいになったりして言葉につまる時に使われているようですね。ぐっと感情がこみ上げてきて言葉が出ない時などです。 ここでは被害者は作家ということですので、それに引っかけてのだじゃれではないでしょうか。 日本語だと「言葉につまったようだな」で、作品を書くのに行き詰まったのと、窒息したのとを引っかけたのではないでしょうか。

I've been married for four years. My husband is a good man. He's really good to me, but lately it feels like our marriage is in a rut.
