こんにちは、oursは私たちのもの、ここでは私たちの部屋our roomと同じことだと思います。the room below oursで私たちの部屋の下の部屋になります。

前回に引き続き、童話シンデレラ(英文)を自分なりに日本語訳に直してみたので、添削と説明お願いいたしますm(_ _)m ■He had likewise, by another wife, a young daughter, but of unparalleled goodness and sweetness of temper, which she took from her mother, who was the best creature in the world. 男(彼)も同じように、別の妻との間にできた幼い娘がいた。その娘は世界で一番の女性であった母親から譲り受けた無比の優しさと可愛らしい性格の持ち主だ。 以下質問です(^_^;) (1)↑英文を並び替えるとしたら「He had likewise, by another wife, a young daughter」を「He had likewise a young daughter by another wife」とだけ直して、あとはそのままで大丈夫でしょうか? (2)↑英文の「but of ～」部分で、なんでbutが使われているのでしょうか？ofの存在する意味もわからないです( ; ゜Д゜) (3)↑英文は１文なのに日本語訳が２文になってしまったのですが、これって良いのでしょうか？ 長文になってしまいました:(；゛゜'ω゜'): 添削と質問が多くてすみません.....(・・;) 理系頭の英語が苦手人間なので、初歩的な質問になってしまったと思いますが、教えてくださると幸いです。

You can rest assured that i will do all I can. 全力を尽くすので安心してください。という意味なんですが、どうしてそうなるのかわかりません。文の構造はどうなっているのでしょうか？ I cannot make people understand. i cannot make myself understood. この二つは意味が同じらしいですが、どうしてですか？ どちらも使役ですよね？上は”人々に理解させることができない”で下は・・？ we hear it said that ours is an essntially tragic age. 意味を教えてください。これも使役・・？ Harldly had he lain on the bench when he fell asleep. 意味と構造を教えてください。倒置なのはわかります。でもharldly を辞書で調べてもいい訳が見つかりませんでした・・

I have been married for 15 years. My husband and I still live under the same roof (for convenience), but we have drifted our separate ways. The problem is, our teenage son cannot stand to be in the same room with his father. All they do is argue, and my husband pouts like a baby, bottom lip and all.
